in my case, if i buy from someone online (whether it's 2 cities over or the opposite side of the planet) then each transaction is carefully done since it's not as foolproof as in person.

I have seen/answered posts from folk who have post counts around your level that joined around the time that I did. You do love twisting things. I started using computer timeshare services in 1980. I have been around the network a few times. I can smell 99% of the scams that hit my inbox from just the POP3 headers

I think no matter how well you know another person you have to practice "caveat emptor"when buying something that is used. Dr. Drib just reminds people of that fact. I mean unlike the original store purchase you don't get a money back guarantee if something does go wrong with the gadget you have bought. And though I do believe the sellers here at MR are by and large honest there are always other people out there who aren't. Certainly there are enough stories of people having bought Kindles from Craigslist or Ebay only to find out they are bricked due to being lost or stolen to prove that fact.

An eink reader is a tool, just like a hammer. I don't feel like discussing the dynamics and biomechanics of swinging a 22oz claw hammer. Do you?

MobileRead is not a site dedicated to buying/selling eReaders. The flea market forum is a side benefit for our members. This thread is now closed.
