Iridal - sorry - whistle = whistle and flute = suit in Cockney rhyming slang.

Black strides (trousers) with brown shoes is tres fashionable for men currently...........just ask David Beckham.

Stitchy - Bangkok still king for this I think but China way cheaper than Honkers

I always thread my belts towards my left side first. I thought everyone did that, but perhaps if you're left-handed it's easier to go the other way?

David Beckham would decapitate himself if it would bring him on the front page of GQ. Not that it would change a thing in regard of his wits anyway

I remember when S'pore was THE place in SE Asia for good quality but dirt cheap custom made suits... But that was back in the day.

As you said, these days it's Thailand. Less than $100 (if you keep off the tourist routes) for a silk/wool blend three piece suit, silk shirt, and silk tie. I must have 9 or 10 suits in my closet... and I almost never wear suits! Once a year if that! But at those prices, I can never resist getting a new one.

(Truth be told, most of my clothes come from hardware stores, home centers, and sporting goods stores...)

I think not. The best color you can pick should be beige. Brown shoes aren't for formal places. That's all I can draw from my vast experience with men shoes

I love me some nice Oxford dress shirts. Everything in my closet is casual/formal wear because I went to a private school that had that type of dress code. There were days where they asked us to dress more formal than others too.

And it was actually the best thing to do in the end, because you kinda get into the habit of it. The first year I was at college, we had this lady come in to talk to us about internships. And she noticed that I was the only one who wasn't in blue jeans and a t-shirt and she was commenting on how dressing the part was so important in these internships and used me as the example. Said thanks at the very end too.

I was going to go shop for some clothes today, but the shops close early today because of the holiday. We had our party yesterday, like most people.

Right now I have on a v-neck long sleeved shirt with various hues of blue and gray stripes, turquoise pants, and blue and gray plaided Converse shoes. So pretty casual.

I went to a secondary school that had a uniform, too. I have to say, I've never been one to dress casually in my adult life, perhaps that has something to do with being used to wearing a uniform... you've given me food for thought!

I think uniform is the key there. If you're having to wear a uniform, you're going to absolutely want to be able to wear whatever when you don't have it on.

When you're given a dress code to abide to, you began to adapt to it, especially when it's a money issue. You don't want to be buying two sets of clothes just to go out on the weekends, and then buy additional stuff for the school year. Celebrities don't tend to go out in t-shirts and torn pants anyway, and that's how I see it. I'd rather spend my money on the hottest style shirts, pants, and shoes, rather than fit in with everyone else.

And it taught me about money too, because what's the point in spending $100 on a years worth of t-shirts when they'll only last you for that year? The clothes I'm wearing now are from when I was 12. Now I'm 22 and they still are in top condition after 100+ washes and fit perfect. They cost a little more, yeah, but they're there in case I want to donate or keep them.

Hmm I did the opposite regarding uniform.

Both my junior and secondary school had uniforms, and my secondary school had a specific outfitter so that you had to buy the exact skirt, blouses etc even down to the shoes we were allowed to wear - 2 types of Clarks shoes - lace up or buckled.

(No patent leather shoes even in the 6th form in case the boys could see our knickers reflected in them!)

Out of school I was a complete loutish tomboy, with ripped jeans and scuffed trainers........at age 40 I am very much still the same!

Our uniform wasn't terribly strict as far as uniforms go. We could wear whatever white dress shirts we wanted, whatever dress pants we wanted as long as they were black, navy blue or grey, and we could wear whatever dress shoes or boots we wanted. We did have to wear school sweaters in the winter (there were a few models to choose from) and we had kilts that we could wear.

I like spending a bit more on my clothes, too, and I have some clothes that are in good condition after 10 and even 15 years of wear, as well. I'm lucky that I haven't gained a lot of weight over the years. I'd rather spend more on each outfit (or buy higher quality clothing, rather; pricier clothes aren't always necessarily high quality) and have less clothing then buy a lot of lower priced items, unless I have to for some reason.
