I certainly don't agree with "Sexual descriptions of any kind are always gratuitous." There is a time and place for them. They can develop characters and plots. I suppose everyone has a different threshold from tasteful and meaningful to purient and shocking but I disagree with that blanket assertion. Is that any different from saying violence or religious scenes are always gratuitous?

Hmm... I might buy it. There's a Kindle edition. But I'd probably wait until some time I would want to read it again. The main draw for me was Odin and Loki. Modern interpretations of the old gods are usually interesting. I don't think I ever worried about the story being a bit fragmented and in the end, not about much. It's like a road movie - stuff happens along the way and you grow up. That's the plot
