Congrats as well, Paul. See, sometimes it helps to speak to a person in stead of an emailmachine-thing. Although when Amazon said to me that they would deliver only on the21 of January, that was a person too.
But not everybody has the same ' speed' over there, and I must say that at one time when I phoned, I couldn't understand one thing because of the strong accent. But all friendly. No question about that.

You may well have something there, Donna. I hadn't even thought about that angle!

Big bump. For those returning their kindle, how long did it take for you to get reimbursed for the replacement kindle and your shipping costs?

I don't know about other countries, but I'm in the US, and Amazon shipped me a replacement for free, e-mailed me a prepaid return shipping label, and took down my credit card info as collateral so that in case I did not return the damaged Kindle within 30 days, they would charge me, but not before.

Which is to say... no cost to me, whatsoever. No reimbursement because there was no initial charge.

I had a discussion with Amazon today about returning my damaged unit. I was sent an email within an hour informing me that they were processing a refund & also charging my account with the statement that both will appear within 2-3 days. Apparently as I am in Australia they needed to recharge me then do a refund.

I then received an email notifying me that the refund had been processed with the statement "Refunds typically complete within 10 business days and appear as a credit on your statement". So i'm guessing 2-10 days.

I need to post my damaged unit and send them an invoice for the postage cost. I wasn't given a reimbursement timeframe however in the original email it does state that if I have any additional inport charges to fax them to Amazon and they will reply within 3-5 business days.
