Wordsworth, Intimations of Immortality. The last lines break my heart every time.

To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.

A tad earlier, even, but a very close relationship, in a way, as in the following:

Whoso list to hunt, I know where is an hind,
But as for me, helas! I may no more.

Draw from the deer; but as she fleeth afore
Fainting I follow. I leave off therefore,

I think the name of the poet will suffice, especially since his poems are all known by their first lines.

Here's the rest of the sonnet quoted above and it contains a major historical hint:

You and pooh are close to the right time, you just need to move it up to the Henrician era. The clue I referred to in the sonnet quoted in two parts above is that the deer who can't be touched because she is Caesar's is presumably Anne Boleyn.
