@ Javed: thank you for the appreciation of Django and his music. Yes I know more music like that. It is often referred as gipsy jazz. The French one is the best reference, but there is good stuff in the English one also.
Listen to this if you want. It is a famous song and i have put on a) the gipsy (manouche) jazz version, b) the original one and c) an Antillan version. Well, here and elsewhere it is the coldest period of the year and a brief holiday on the beaches is almost needed ![]() b) Spoiler:
c) Spoiler:

While researching for my previous post I stumbled on fado music and obviously I got caught like a fly on a sticky paper strip. So ... get this scene of old Europe through the eyes of a great German. The beautiful angel voice is from Teresa Salgueiro.
Music from the movie Lisbon Story (Win Wenders 1995) . About the angel, Spoiler:
and a last piece, with some reference to our roots. Spoiler:

Beppe, thank you for these great music pieces. I also quite like reading your cool chat that helps to understand more about them. Of La maison sur le port, all were very enjoyable and different listening versions. My favorite of these is option a with Sanseverino, which is in the gysy jazz style.
![]() Teresa Salgueiro is quite captivating with her beautiful voice. Oxala Oxalá is performed by her with delightful tenderness and her voice is particularly sweet with this song. There is optimism and happiness in the rolling melody and warm guitar; the occasional, intentional squeeky slides are a nice addition. She is a lovely singer. Thank you, Beppe! ![]() |

Yeah. With the tea thread this has become a swell place, quiet, well lighted, sizable drinks, likable music, they put out nice food also. One can meet real people, from all over. It was in a place like that somewhere out of Austin in one of those German towns, a big barn with pool tables on one side and room to dance, a sort of stage, easy, so easy, that I happened to listen to this kid. Somehow it fits with what we were saying. Eh?

Silence at last! My upstairs neighbor finally left after dragging and breaking things in his apartment all day while cursing loudly.
