Audible's daily deal today (6/5) is The Killer Next Door, by Alex Marwood, for $3.95.

I listened to this one last winter and recommend it if you like thrillers. I don't think it was as good as Marwood's Wicked Girls, but nevertheless an enjoyable book with the requisite twists and turns and surprises.

Here's a (probably) stupid question(s):

I am considering stopping my Audible membership, or at least the $15 per month fee. Can I still use outstanding credits? Can I still access my Library of purchased audiobooks? And finally, can I still buy qualifying "whispersync" audiobooks in the future?

I can guess at the logical answers, plus I'll try to look it up later, but I hoped that someone could just have a quick response.

You can definitely still access your library, buy the daily deals, buy whispersyncs, and qualify for the buy 4 get $10 coupon sort of deals.

I'm almost positive you lose your credits when you cancel, but someone else can correct me there if needed.

Keeping credits requires a paid membership. The least expensive membership is $10 per year. Under this plan, you don't earn any new credits. It will allow you to keep your current credits and spend them when you want.

Another option is to put your membership on hold for three months. During this time, you won't be charged for any new credits and you'll be allowed to keep the credits you already have.

Tubemonkey has the gist of it, but I can add that gift and complimentary credits don't expire upon cancellation.

Another way to save is buying credits in bulk through an annual plan, I last purchased 24 credits for $229.50, which averages out to $9.56 per credit. Curiously, I notice that the annual plans have been removed from Audible's "pick a plan" page, but gold and platinum annual plans are still cited in the conditions of use.

Note also that the $10 per YEAR plan, in addition to preserving credits, entitles you to certain other special sales for paid members only.

Nonetheless, I just used my last credit and cancelled that plan. As Geddy Lee said, "Ten bucks is ten bucks, eh?"

My account comes off hold on the 16th. It was really easy to do. Your account is still active you can buy, spend credits and everything you just don't get any new credits or charged for three months. I did mine because I was moving and had no idea when I have time to use my credits. I used chat to place the hold.

The $10-per-year plan is the "Listener Light" membership. I have that one. In my opinion, it is a super value.

As someone mentioned (whom I forgot to quote) you can get the daily specials, Whispersyncs, and at least the Buy4Get$10 promotion. Also, when companies (I remember Avis and another rental car company, and maybe another company) have had their $10 credit promotions, I have been able to take advantage of them.

Like I said, I think that it is a super value (don't tell Jeff Bezos, he might change the plan. ha.). For me, it's been a good fit with my buying habits as I never buy a full price audiobook, so I don't really need the credits.
