Perhaps the "Living Room Apple TV" that shows on my laptop's manage bluetooth screen is in my neighbor's apartment. We have thin walls. Only the Apple TV still shows on that page. Last night my Echo came up but I didn't succeed in being able to pair it with my laptop.

How to pair Echo with another device via bluetooth

I have an ipod nano and wonder how I would pair that with Echo. Do you set it up on the nano itself? My nano was purchased in 2014. My larger ipod (30GB) is much older, so I don't know whether it is bluetooth capable.
The Apple TV probably belongs to your adjacent apartment neighbor.

Here's how I pair Echo with my Fire/Android tablet, Chromebook, Windows phone, or bluetooth-capable iPod:
  • Say, "Alexa, pair." She will acknowledge the command by responding "Ready to pair..."
  • On the mobile device, turn on bluetooth. Click on Amazon-2EO (my Echo's identifier). If you don't see your Echo on the list, you may need to click on "Pair a Bluetooth Device," "Find nearby devices," or something similar. When your mobile device finds Echo, click on the identifier (Echo-2EO).
When you are finished listening to music, say "Alexa, unpair." Then go to your mobile device and turn bluetooth off there.

This link may have the info you need: Connect a Device to Amazon Echo with Bluetooth. And here's a troubleshooting link: Echo: Can't Connect to Bluetooth.

I hope that helps!

Added: When paired with bluetooth, you won't be able to use Echo's full range of voice commands. You can control volume using voice, have it interrupt the music to give you news, weather, etc., but some music controls may need to be done on the mobile device. Nevertheless, I use bluetooth pairing with Echo to listen to music stored on my portable devices quite often.

There is no need to repeatedly pair and unpair unless you never intend to use that device again, or you use so many device that you can't stay paired with all of them (I don't know how many that is.)
Connecting is different than pairing.
You can and should keep your primary devices paired. When you want to use it you can say "Alexa, connect" and then "Alex, disconnect" when you're done, or use the blutooth menu on your device. Touching a device in the paired devices list usually connects and disconnects.

Glad you were able to get Echo working with your Nano! I hope it connects to your laptop without difficulty.

I am normally an early adopter of technology, but I missed the initial announcement of the Echo because I was working a lot of extra hours at the office and just basically working, sleeping (not enough) and eating at the time. The only Amazon gadget we don't have is the Fire Phone (was not really impressed and not willing to switch to AT&T anyway). Anyway, I requested an invitation in mid-December and received it on 1/8; ordered the same day. It is scheduled to arrive on 2/23. We are looking forward to it. Probably would not purchase at the $199.00 price point, but $99 seems okay. Looks like a fun product.

The Fire Phone is now unlocked. You can use it with a variety of providers. Also comes with a free year if Prime. I got mine for $199 when it was on sale. It's a great phone. I love it.

edited (someone already answered another question).

Anybody figure out yet how to have more than one alarm/reminder? For instance, without using the timer which I use for cooking, I want an alarm to tell me to test my blood sugar 2 hours after eating and an alarm at 8 p.m. to take my evening pills.

As far as I know, that's not possible at this time.

Wow so only 1 alarm allowed? That's so limited

Even the ole clock radio in the bedroom hubby refuses to give up can do up to three alarms!

Yep and all Android phones can do multiple alarms. So can Cortana. This is a huge disappointment for me.

Yeah, I suspect multiple timers and alarm will be coming soon. Use that feedback, folks.
