Booxtor discouraged us from installing this firmware: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...89#post2048189
So how does it work? Claimed innovations - a reality?

Don't understand your question...

As far as I got it, it seems to be the chinese firmware release - but there was a generic discussion around this firmware about security issues with their distribution channels...

TLDR; Made it easier to install the "Duden" (German dictionary) for Windows users.

Hi, my Linux archive prgram probably unpacked that automatically. Here I put the directory as a .zip file on my space if you want it: http://sspaeth.de/uploads/tmp/stardict-duden-2.4.2.zip (it's from the opensuse.org site) I cannot guarantee how complete this is, though.

1) Create a /dicts directory in your internal or flash card
2) Unzip the .zip file and put the directory with the 3 files in that /dicts dir.
3) Enjoy the new dictionary, let me know if it works.

just fyi, 20120326 update on my m92 led to many many freezes requiring reset, both on the "home screen" and while reading. Had to roll back to v1.6

Hi,
I have just updated the first post.

There is a new software version from 2012-05-14.
Unfortunatelly the new PDFReader(with two column reading mode) is not available in that update yet. I was told it will be available in a couple of days.

I hope it is worth to be tried out though.
I am testing it for two days now and it was stable in that time.

Booxtor does this fix any screen issues ?
I have started a separate thread for the issue i'm facing on my newly received M92. I will post a video of my problem shortly on that thread.

Scribbles carry now the date in their default names and the deletion dialog now shows the scribble name... but scribble export seems broken for new scribbles (I guess they make some assumptions on the file names which don't hold anymore).

Otherwise, I didn't notice differences (could folks who pointed out bugs check whether they're gone?). Is there an official changelog?
I assume they're only working on the new naboo_reader, and not fixing/extending the old one anymore, I guess(?)

Cheers.

btw the only bug I found on the 1.7 firmware is that the recently opened books list does not work correctly. has this been fixed ?

It is good to know Onyx guys are working to improve the m92. IMO right now it is a very good reader, with powerful hardware and great potential, and adding more useful features (like the two columns reader) plus the work from the user community will make it the ideal reader. Keep up the good work, guys!

Actually, no!

Has anyone successfully installed the new firmware update-20120514.zip?
I tried (several times), and it stalled my system (complete freeze).
Is there anything wrong with the update, or with the archive?

The special "anti freeze" update-20120309.zip brought my reader back to life again, but downgraded it to that version. Reinstalling update-20120514.zip killed it again. I now run update-20120309.zip.
Can it be the case that a bug resolved in update-20120309.zip was reintroduced in update-20120514.zip?
