Unless you have the time to read it right away, remind yourself that any of the science books will be out of date in 5 years. That might help!

Haven’t bought a book yet this month! Yay me. Not interested in the star trek sales this month so I’m safe there. Hopefully I can resist other sales. Though my birthday is in a couple weeks and if I happen to get a Kobo card then all bets are off!

I'm currently considering an amazing deal on some recent SF magazine back issues. It's a good magazine, with some new stories by authors I really like, and it's also a good way to come across new authors.

I think this is probably one of the deals I ought to take up, but I'll mull it over for another day or two.

It took me almost a month to read the novel I started the year with (though I listened to 4 more), so I have had no issues not buying anything. My bigger issue is with year-end and awards lists anyway, so perhaps I will be good for a few months.

I decided to go for it. £0.40 per issue. TBR now +15 instead of -5. Let's se how the rest of February goes.

I'd argue that this is a justified expense. One, you hesitated and actually thought about it, not just an impulse. Two, your price was VERY reasonable. And three, it's stuff you really want and will read. So yeah, the TBR is up, but with value, not dross.

My thoughts exactly.

It seems silly to hope for fewer great bargains, but I either need fewer bargains for the rest of the year, or to be even stricter!

I deleted a ton of freebies I do not need and I can not get them off my device. I deleted them off my content and devices page. They still show under "all" tab on my device even though I removed from the device. Do I need to do a complete reset? I hope not for It takes forever to re-download my books

If this is Amazon and Kindle devices, then you need to delete them from the MYK page, and also delete them from your device(s). They will, then, eventually disappear from the All view on your Kindle.

As for having to add items back after you reset your device? That's what Calibre is for.

I'm doing well this month. I did re-sign up with Audible for 4 free audiobooks. Once I decide on those, I will then quit again. Sigh. However, no other purchases this month, so far.

I’m discovering all sorts of great uploads that have been made to the MR library in the last year. Lots of great reading that should keep me busy for a long time!

Well, they’re both ways of avoiding spending money on books, I suppose, and that’s what I’m personally trying to reduce.

I've drastically reduced my impulse purchases of commercial ebooks by browsing the MR library - esp. the recent uploads from Pulpmeister and GrannyGrump. The free downloads from the MR library, combined with my continuing purchases of the Delphi 'Complete Works' volumes at extremely reasonable prices, has provided a huge, but cheap, TBR list that will certainly out live me.
