Need image for Kobo Clara HD
Hi David,
My Clara HD is stuck in a "Restoring..." mode in multiple languages, and nothing will boot, so no factory reset. Some online comments suggest that the battery had died while the OS was updating. The SD card was not backed up, so the device is now a paperweight. You seem to be the source for appropriate images!

I did locate the MobileRead page with the Mark 7 firmware, latest version 4.26.16704. Is this the correct firmware for this device? If not, I would appreciate receiving an image.

That is the firmware update package and is only usable with a working device. I have sent you a PM with the link to the image.

Have you tried a factory reset using the instructions on https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017605314? For step 2, it is unlikely that the powered off screen will be shown. Hold the power button down for about 20 seconds to ensure it is off.

Screen or mainboard broken?
Hi davidfor, thanks for the link.

Unfortunately the image (written on another MicroSD), hasn't solved my issue.

The Kobo is always stuck on a book cover with some vertical and horizontal lines (i put an image of the kobo).

How can i understand if the screen is broken, or the mainboard is broken?

I saw a spot on one chip of the mainboard of the Kobo Clara HD, and i suppose that the chip is burned, but i'm not sure about this.

Diagonal artifacts are pretty typical of a broken substrate, as it's literally a cracked corner of glass.

Dear NiLuJe, thanks for your reply.

I used the kobo with the original Rakuten case.

It is possible to break the screen with the kobo inside it?

Can i do some tests to ensure that only the screen is broken?

I found the replacement screen on aliexpress (about 65 €), but i want to be sure that only the screen is broken.
