Well, I'm not buying any more. Though technically, if I grab a good price Black Friday / Cyber Monday, I could return the ones I bought for my daughters. I won't even open them before December.

I got my Exact cover:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O18HF14/ If I had it to do over again I might get the black color, the green is even brighter than in the picture. But I'm kind of tired of basic black so between the green and the citron I really have some color here lol! The cover is unobtrusive, minimalistic like I wanted. The back is covered nicely, it has 'bumpers' on each corner. The top, bottom, and with the cover open, the left side citron color is exposed. You probably want a Poetic cover that completely wraps around the device if you plan on dropping the Fire much, but Exact is a nice cover that doesn't add much to the bulk or weight of the device. |

That's a nice cover. Looks just like the Poetic style. Love the color choices!

I think the Poetic covers are better quality. I'm not sure the Exact cover flap is going to hold up nearly as long as a similar Poetic cover would. Having said that, Exact's very basic design is good for a tablet this size. The green cover color is almost as fluorescent as the citron tablet :-)

http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Fire-HD...dp/B00NQB8ITK/ If so, it may not seem as durable to those who have bought other Poetic cases. Then again, it is a slimline case. One issue I have noticed is that the corner 'bumpers' on the left side of the case slip a bit where the right side corner bumpers do not. The plastic is a single piece from top to bottom on the right side, and the corners don't slip there, but there is big gap with no plastic beyond the corners on the left side, if that makes any sense. I think the Flinty case is better if someone wants a more traditional tablet case: http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Release...dp/B00NOSNCVE/ Otherwise the slimline cases make it easier to fit into a shirt or pants pocket. |

I think very few companies other than Amazon could make a go of 6" tablets, particularly with the trend toward phablets. Folks don't want to carry around (or even own) two devices when one will do. As for Nook, their options to pursue opportunities are very constrained, regardless of what vision they may have. The Samsung/Nook tablets are anything but impressive. And they no longer let you download ePub files from your account, probably to save on Adobe licensing fees. That's sort of like turning off the water heater to save on the utilities bill. It is difficult to see what they can do to turn things around. |

These new HD's are mostly aimed at kids; and $99 makes it easier to get each kid his/her own tablet.

![]() Maybe that was their initial intention, but at that price point, millions of adults are going to get one for themselves. ![]() Love my Nexus 7.2, but the Fire 6 is better for reading! (FOR ME). |

I can confirm, it is great for reading. I also bought a Voyage, which I love, and I feel so happy switching from one device to the other according to my needs.
DH, who was not so happy about my buying spree, but indulged me in getting me two origami covers, one for each, said, after using the Fire for a minute : this would be great for the kids. So.... We might order two more for Xmas. |

No one wants to be that company selling ~$200 hardware with a two-year warranty against accidents, with free one year subscriptions that are obviously not going to get renewed.
The other guys are just laughing at how much charity Amazon is doing for its customers. I find my HD 6 a bit slow. I hope they bother to do some optimizations. I was digging through it the other day and saw that it was pretty much the same software they ship in the better Fires, with just the extra stuff pulled out (the references are still there). So essentially, if we somehow got root, it'd be a one step process to get Mayday on these things. |

If I still had a preschooler I would be all over Kids Fire with Free Time subscription. It would have been so awesome. But I don't. Why couldn't they have come out with this about 5 years ago, when my youngest was 3!
