I love my Echo. It's a fantastic music and audiobook player. I use it every day.

I just purchased a Dot & a TP-link Smart Plug combo. I'll probably wrap it for Christmas for me.

That's what I think, too. I mainly want to use it for audio books and music, but I will run some apps on it that don't run on my Fire Phone. So I need the space. If there had been a good 32 gb one for a good price, I'd have gotten that. But 16 gb should be fine. All my tablets are 16 gb and I've yet to run up against the wall on any of them.

I probably get as many Amazon ebooks as epub, and it's a pain always having to convert them. Is the "7 Fire worth while it as a reader or is it just cheap junk?
In my opinion, it is not great for reading on. If you can afford it, get the 8" Fire HD for $59, or better yet, the Fire HD 6". That one is really great for reading on. I've had mine for 2 years now (my 2 young daughters each have one, also, as well as my mother) and we use them every day. $70 for the 8 gb, $90 for the 16 gb.

Of course there are non-Fire tablets too, like the ipad mini, that are good for reading on.

A lot of stores have it in their ads, so yes, I think we will see this price many times. I still want one, and I have a birthday in March, so maybe I'll get one then.

Well yes, but so is my stereo which has great speakers in almost every room and I can't see the echo bringing anything to the table that I don't already have. I'm old fashioned!

I do love this thread though. Not only do I find some bargains I want, it helps me figure out what is popular so I can blog it. I would never have even blogged the dot or echo without this thread because they kind of perplex me with their offering, yet people are drawn to them. And they are probably cheaper than a stereo system (cheaper than mine, for sure.)

It's going to be CA$30 off for Black Friday, for a total of about US$75. Shipping from Chapters is extra but not too bad and it's quick - quicker than ordering from Kobo.
The total cost (not including any bank fees for foreign transactions), the price after the exchange rate and including shipping is about $86 (in US dollars).

And I mentioned this on the blog and at least two threads on Mobileread--there are some kobos on ebay right now from one seller--a couple of folks from mobileread bought them and said they look/act brand new. May not be the exact model you want, but here's a link to a Kobo Aura for 50:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/272125740867...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Check the guy's store link. He has had the mini and some other models up for grabs too. I've not seen him post any listings for the newer models (like the H2O).

Here's a link to his list on the store:

Not great, but not bad. I have very few SanDisk brand cards die on me, which is why I stick with that brand usually. Unless I can find something REALLY cheap.

The Kobo Aura on eBay is the original Aura. The Kobo Aura on Chapters is the Aura Edition 2. I would go for the Edition 2 because it has a Carta screen and the original Aura does not.

My Echo is my stereo. It's all I need for music. I used to be big into stereo components, but not anymore. The Jeff liberated me.

Glad the thread is of help to you. We aim to please.
