I also just ordered a bunch of DVDs which takes care of a few more people from my list. I feel very productive!

Amazon hadn't pricematched many of the DVDs on sale. Not sure if that's because they don't feel the need or just haven't gotten around to it. But with free shipping it was just as easy to order from Best Buy.

I still use a flip phone. It's small, handy, and doesn't require a data plan.

I use smartphones as audio players and pocket tablets.

And to top it, the 128 GB rose gold model seems to be sold out at Target. My phone is rose gold and I don't want my iPad in another color *throws tantrum*

I'm happy again I was able to get the exact model I wanted (128 GB, rose gold, WiFi only) at Target, and it was only $550!! Apparently, earlier I was looking at the WiFi+Cellular model, and not the WiFi only (*whew* ). It's now duly ordered, along with the pencil, and on it's merry way.

I got the Alcatel Pop 4 Plus, because I wanted the 16 gb memory (plus card slot) and current version of android. It will be a media player for me. Good price @ 50. I did not want, at all, anything with only 8 gb memory. That just doesn't cut it for me.

DH talked me out of getting a Dot, for now....although I am going to ask my mother if she might like one.

Got the four video games on my kids' lists, and some books for my daughter's birthday.

I noted some duplicity in Best Buy's promotion. I picked up the LG Phoenix, but when I did some research post-purchase, I saw that the model's specs show 16 gb memory. Moreover, the list on that model is $99. So Best Buy is advertising a phone with half the memory as having the same list price.

I assume that this is a special model manufactured for BF sales and costs were cut. But it's dishonest to keep the same "list" price. I suspect a more accurate "list" would be about $80. I'll add that AT&T is currently selling the 16 gb model for $50, which fits the same general parameters of $20 for an extra 8 gb. Also, the reviews mentioned a lot of bloatware and if it eats up a lot of 16 gb, very little memory may be left of 8 gb. And as I know from my LG Volt, adding an SD card is only a partial solution, as many apps won't transfer. It's really more cost effective just to get more on-board memory.

Oh, well. Even though it's not the deal implied in the ad, I'm not saying the phone isn't worth what I paid for it and I only have myself to blame for not doing more research first. But I'm dissatisfied wth Best Buy. I may end up returning this.

The Amazon Fire "7 are on sale for $33. I'm thinking of getting one for a dedicated reader because I really don't need to use it for anything else. I have a Great Samsung Tab S 10.5 tablet and the first 2 generations of the nook. I have Amazon Prime and want to take advantage of the free books. I probably get as many Amazon ebooks as epub, and it's a pain always having to convert them. Is the "7 Fire worth while it as a reader or is it just cheap junk?

The screen resolution is fairly low. It's good for videos, but reading is another matter. I read of people complaining about the poor reading quality of the display. But, as usual, YMMV.

Your Galaxy S has a resolution of 288 ppi and the Fire 7 is only 171 ppi.

I got the 7" Fire on prime day for the same price.
I've been using it almost daily for audiobooks, and like it very much for that purpose. It's also pretty good for Prime videos. I have used it for reading, and I have no trouble getting immersed in a book and forgetting about the screen. But side by side with a HD resolution screen, the resolution is noticeably worse. If you'll be satisfied with one seems to depend on how picky you are about screens.

The 8 inch HD might make a better reader, with slightly higher resolution, I haven't seen it.

Or the 6 inch HD, if still available, is a very good screen for reading, it's my reading in bed device.

Slightly tempted to get a Dot, but otherwise I'm not seeing much of anything to make my eyes light up. Oh well, it's just the beginning of the sales.

I don't really get the dot and echo appeal at all myself, but I did blog a serger this morning that made me smile (I already HAVE one, but STILL.) I am not going for a no contract phone this year although I did look at the offerings. Just wasn't enough to push me into getting one. We'll stick with the one we got last year. I also got a great deal on socks, but so far that's it!

I got it too and will mainly use it as audio device. I previously got the ZTE Speed boost mobile phone from Best Buy and use it with the insignia bluetooth Plug in Wall speaker (also from BB) to listen to stuff (see link below on sale for 19.99 at BB)

I haven't gotten the bluetooth to work with the phone yet but it has an audio input jack which works for me.

I'd kinda sorta like a Dot, but $40 is a little high for me for an alarm clock with benefits, which would be its purpose. I figure we'll see this price again at worst and I'm in no rush.

Check the posts for major stores (Best Buy, Office Depot, etc) to see any BF deals on mSD cards.
