Sorry, j/k. Still though, the dropping of both the Kindle and Nook is a great thing. I placed an order an hour ago for the Wi-Fi Nook. It says it will ship on Wednesday. I still would have gotten the Nook over the Kindle at the lower prices (didn't know about the Kindle price drop when I purchased) b/c of the Overdrive system.

We use the Library a lot so the Nook makes more sense.

I also have tons of books from fictionwise, and I just bought a nook on 6/3. The fictionwise content is easy to load onto the nook. Library books are also easy to load. I've been pretty happy with the nook, overall.

I do recommend Calibre (free download) to organize all the books. Nook won't do folders but you can change the metadata of your own side-loaded content so that it sorts the way you want it to. For example, I've changed the titles of my work-related pdfs so they all start with the same tag, e.g., "TAS - Title." That way they are all in the same spot in my library toc.

That's good to hear. It sounded like it should be easy, but I wasn't sure. Being able to load my Fictionwise/eReader content is one of the reasons I'd consider a Nook over a Kindle.

Good suggestion. I do already have Calibre installed on my PC (along with the Mobipocket, eReader, Stanza and Kindle applications). I like Calibre. I had downloaded my multiformat e-books in epub format after installing it. Thanks for the feedback!

This is really great price drop, I got the email from B&N about it. I'm thinking of getting one too. maybe with the 3G.

I think I'm going to wait. There was an article on CNN Money about the price cuts speculating $99 by year's end for both. http://money.cnn.com/2010/06/21/tech..._cut/index.htm

I'll stay with my Sony until it dies or until the screens really look that much better to me.

Though I have to admit, the nook looks a lot more appealing now. Kindle still looks bleh.

Just picked the 3G one at $199 for my Dad for a late father's day present - I was going to pick up the Pandigital but I suspect he'll like this better anyway. (He has no wifi at his house.)

Any ideas on books I should put on a MicroSD card from PG for a 50 year old kid at heart?

Also, I asked them about the WiFi version and they said it'll probably be a few weeks before they are available. Even if you order now.

Hmm I hope it's policy to take the gift card back, I got my nook maybe 10 days ago and I'd definitely rather have the $60 back than have the gift card. The Barnes and Noble is on my way to work so I might just stop by beforehand and see.

Depends on what he likes. Maybe HarryT's Complete Sherlock Holmes from here on MR?

You'll only get a $10 refund.

I can't remember where I read it, but it said somewhere that B&N is giving that refund for anyone who bought a nook in the last 14 days. The reason for the $10 is because that's the difference between the new nook price versus the old one with the $50 gift card.

B&N Refund

You can get the $50 gift card refunded if you did not use it. I posted on page 2 of this blog. If you did not use card, bring it in with your receipt and you get the $60 back. If you used the card, like I did, you get $10 back. Still not bad though.

For my dad it would be a couple books on baseball or maybe something by Stephen Ambrose.

Tell me, what do you think will be the changes when they release a 2.0 version in time for Christmas?? This feels exactly like the chance for them to sell these cheap and come up with something new for the holidays. Since my plan had been to wait for Christmas, and since I had committed in my head to $259, the new 2.0 at $259 at Christmas will additionally give me ----?
Or do I just buy the 3g now?
Your thoughts?
Thanks!

Barnes &Noble nook price drop to $199

Hmmmm. The Kindle's price drop made it the the homepage but the nook's did not. I like the Kindle, I obviously prefer the nook, but I am tired of all the press the Kindle gets and the nook gets so little. Go nook!
