Not likely, or they would have already done it. The Voyage was released almost 9 years ago. Probably the technology was too expensive.

Because they didn't know it before buying. Anyway, the difference is noticeable only in complete darkness, and I'm guessing that's not where one reads with the light shut off.

Haha, exactly. I only found out after I bought it!

And no, I do not read with the light off in total darkness

The light is never off no matter where you read and how dark or not it is.

I think what I'm going to say may be controversial for both the Kindle and Kobo camps here, but here it goes:

To my eyes and with the devices that I've bought, even though the Libra 2 is darker and bluer than the Kindles, the screen is... sharper?

Like, the Voyage and the Oasis 3 are not muddy like the PW5's was for me (god I did not like the PW5s I had), but there's something about the clarity and sharpness of the Libra 2 screen that I don't get on any of the Kindle devices I have. Maybe I have to get a PW3 or the newest basic Kindle to get that effect, since they are not flush screens.

So, while the Oasis and Voyage screens seem whiter/brighter (and the Voyage warmer, though possibly because there is a very low light at 0 brightness - I've yet to compare all of them in KOReader, stay tuned), the text feels less sharp than on the Libra 2, where it feels like the text is leaping off the screen and into my eyes.

Perhaps it is due to a difference in font/size/etc. I generally use either ChareInk or Georgia across all my devices so I tried to control for that, but it's hard to get an exact match in their native readers. KOReader seems to do a decent job matching them, but there, too, the Libra 2 seems to have a slight edge, no pun intended.

Yes, but you can't see it unless it's completely dark.

Indeed - well, I'm trying to figure out how to make KOReader more stable on the thing, right?

While I couldn't compare my Libra 2 with the Voyage directly (I had already sold the Voyage when I bought the Libra), I agree that the Libra is definitely sharper than the Oasis 3. That's probably because the Libra uses the latest Carta 1200 screen, while the Oasis does not; also the Libra has a recessed screen, which is often sharper than the flush one (but not always). Why the PW5 with the same Carta 1200 screen is so bad I have no idea (I also haven't seen a PW5 in real life, so I'm saying this based on your claim).

The PW5 is better then the PW4. The PW4 screen is terrible.

Yes, I suspect that the Libra 2 having both a newer and recessed screen matters. Strangely, in my impression on the native UIs at least, the Kobo has a slightly worse ghosting performance than the Oasis (it's by no means bad, but noticeable when using a keyboard). I think it might just be a software optimization thing at that point and not the screen's fault.

What I've read about the PW5's screen is that, while it's the same Carta 1200 as many other new ereaders, Amazon got cheap and put a plastic layer instead of a glass layer on top like the Oasis to make the screen flush, and plastic's clarity is just not as good as that of glass.

(Or, I just got really unlucky and got really crappy PW5s )

It was. I got my first PW5 by trading in an old PW4 lying around. The PW4 was terrible in comparison to the PW5 (and given how much I disliked the PW5, you can see how much I hated the PW4!)

Ghosting varies wildly between individual devices, as discussed in earlier posts. My Oasis 3 had almost no ghosting, but another poster complained here that their Oasis had terrible ghosting.

Maybe you had better luck than I did and saw ones with a better QA experience

As we've seen in this thread, people with the same devices have different experiences.

Also - to be fairer to the PW5, it is not bad, it's just that, when I already have a Libra 2 (and an Oasis 2 at the time) on hand, why would I read on a less clear screen?

Amazon really botched the PW4. There was nothing about it that was better then the PW3.
