For what it is worth, on a X-Rite eXact Basic densitometer, my Forma has a slightly darker black and slightly whiter white than a Oasis 3 when displaying a full screen black image and a full screen white image. Both were well within the eInk's specs for a Carta display and so testing different units will likely give different results though if as I suspect, the Forma has the VD1400-HOB display module, it is Carta 1200 and is faster and has 15% better contrast than the 7" Carta module used in the Oasis 3, the Forma is likely to inch out the Oasis 3 in any such tests.

Congratulations. You found one Mobius module. Now please find a 7" glass backplane device in that product catalog. You know, the ones used by Amazon for the Oasis and Kobo for the Libra.

Yes, a stupid and not well thought out design.
This is what happens when you mix Mobius with glass without paying attention to the overall construction.
And that is also one of the reasons why I chosed the Boox Note Air.

I suspect that any glass front layer can be cracked/broken. Even the Asahi Glass (equivalent to Gorilla Glass) front layer used on both the Note 3 and the Air can be broken.

[QUOTE=JSWolf;4126955]It is fact as you can see here. Also, the images on the Forma have better contrast.

contrast != dither

Of course - but much heavier when the glass module substructure is present.

I once dropped my Note Air from a height of about 1.50 meters onto a stone floor - almost nothing happened, only one corner got scratched.

Once again, it depends on the overall construction.
If you mix Mobius with glass, then you need the same construction as for glass - but then you don't need Mobius anymore, then the difference in weight is only a few grams.

For the use of Mobius, the overall construction must be adjusted to it - but this results in a lower imaging quality.

At the time the Forma came out, Carta 1200 didn't exist yet - it's been around since 2020.
The module from the Forma is not listed at EInk.
The module is marked e8080kh1.

I had a look on eInk's website and I cannot find the 7" display.

The images on the Kobo have more detail because the dithering is better. The better contrast is just a plus.

Sorry, but that's rubbish/BS. Can you prove that the Forma has a lower imaging quality to say the Oasis or Libra?

I don't know Oasis or Libra.

However, my Tolino Epos 2 has the worst picture and light quality of all my devices that I haven't weeded out yet.

As soon as I have my Likebook P78 completely set up, I will only have Chinese tablets in use - the Epos 2 can then keep the useless stuff in the basement company.

Tolino is not Kobo. The firmware on the Tolino is Android.

Where do you get your evidence that a Mobious screen is that bad?

So what? That still makes it halfway bearable.
Again: I have 5 Kobos - 3 of them defective; the rest has been replaced for by application more joyful my need (Tolino Android).

I have 3 and can compare 2 of it with (nearly) same size glass.
If there were glass replacements for Likebool Alita or Boox Max Lumi, then these would also disappear into the basement.

But I suppose that won't happen - and it's not all that important because I use these devices in a greater distance.
