But,I don't expect to find the copy buried in some directory where I am not accessing the eBooks. So that can be a problem. For me, I'll let no cloud storage touch any of my Calibre libraries. And if someone does and have all kinds of problems, so be it.
Calibre and cloud storage should never ever mix. |

I'll be happy to keep my active library out of the cloud when there is another and safer option to work with my library on different computers. There is no such option now. Yes, you can do something with the content server, but it's very limited (no editing of the files, no conversion, no plugins) and more importantly, it requires the host device to be up and running. I live alone and don't leave any electronic devices running when not at home. The fridge being the only exception.
Of course you can keep your active library on a portable disk, but then you have to lug that around with you in addition to your laptop or tablet. As I have no car and mostly use public transport, that's not an option for me either. And the disk you constantly move around is more likely to fail. |

Another option is to have a copy of your library on a memory card and take that with you. Most laptops these days have a memory card slot. My laptop has a full size SD card slot but I have adapters for the microSD cards. My Surface Pro 2 only has a microSD card slot. |

The copy will be created in the same directory as the original. So the library check always finds it. Last edited by Sirtel; 06-07-2021 at 07:30 PM. |
