A Likebook Mars works great with a Bluetooth remote control or an active pen.

If they're epub, mobi, or azw books, then a small e-ink screen will work fine. You can just switch the font sizes, and reflow everything.

If they're pdf, then a larger screen will be necessary. If you can't use the standard glowing screens, large e-ink screens can get expensive.

I am unsure which book file format. I do want page turn buttons. My issue with the Kindle Oasis is the cost. $80-$100 more than the Kobo.

You don't have to worry about eBook format. If you use Calibre and install the DeDRM plugin and correctly configure it, you will be able to remove DRM and convert as needed. Once you have Calibre configured correctly, it will be mostly seamless.

As for the larger screen, if you need larger text, the larger screen will be better for your needs.

@jswolf Remember though he had stated his computer is a Raspberry Pi 400 (basically a Raspberry Pi 4 mounted inside a keyboard). DRM removal will be a moot point since for Overdrive books there is not an ADE version he can install.

Not in the U.S. You just borrow the book and choose Kindle (instead of ePub) and it shows up at your Amazon account (just like buying a book with your Kindle).

For this you need Tolino or Pocketbook or Android EInk Tablets.
If you have an Overdrive enabled Kobo (I think that includes all the current devices now) you can borrow via WiFi in the U.S. and some other countries. You'll find the books you can borrow in your Kobo Bookstore.

Here in the German-speaking area there is hardly any Overdrive.
There is Onleihe and if you want to borrow there, you get, when chosing Adobe, an acsm - and Kobo cannot do anything with that.
If you chose CARE DRM, then you have to read in a browser app online.

I hope you enjoy reading on your new Kindle!

If you like the same kind of books your wife likes, look into the Kindle Family Library facility, which lets two Amazon accounts choose to share books with each other.

Well, I am surprised at that price. But, the last time I tried to buy something like this from the US Amazon, they refused to deliver here. If I was interested in another device at the moment, I might try and see when it stops the order process.

And in that case I'd use the tolino I have. They do support downloading the Adobe DRM protected books.

And for my curiosity, what Android ereader app are you using that supports this? I've never bothered to look to much as I don't tend to read on my phone. But, it is always useful to know.

You are completely correct. I look at what is easily available here. I don't choose to buy from overseas when I can source something suitable to my needs locally. Especially when I am uncertain and want to experiment a little.

you also believe everything that Kobo and Amazon and .... ramble about.
What exactly do you mean by this? What exactly are they telling me that I should not believe or tell people about?

And, where in any of my posts recommending these devices have I made a statement not explicitly based on my experience with these devices? Was I not clear in the first post I made in this thread about this? From memory, I explicitly refrained from making any suggestions about the devices that you are so enamoured with,

This is of course convenient, but it costs money and if you deviate from it it becomes cumbersome.
What? That doesn't make sense to me. Unless you mean that everything costs money and once you choose a path, changing to another costs more money. Then I have to agree.

Apart from that, their devices are technical and cheapest crap.
Honestly, I have no real way to measure this. And I'd be surprised if you do as well. I mean, it would mean you had access to all these devices and knowledge of all the parts in them all. But, all the ereaders I have had in my hands have been of similar quality. And that quality is more than acceptable. I know they use low-end processors to keep costs and power usage down. But, I have no hassle with this as they do the job they are designed to. I am happy with a single use device that I consider to be well designed.

EReader Apps, which I know, that support Adobe DRM are:
- Bluefire,
- Aldiko,
- Tolino app,
- Pocketbook app - which I prefer, because it is best configurable for my needs

In your personal opinion. Others may think otherwise. For example, I love my Kobo, but I wouldn't say it has much better firmware and reading experience. It has more options, but the reading experience is very similar to that of the Oasis. IMHO, of course.
