I would think with Covid-19, that you'd be washing your hands enough that they'd no longer be grubby.

I don't eat food that would make my hands unsuitable to hold my H2O while reading.

I don’t like the name, but otherwise I’m on board.

I missed page turn buttons when I migrated to Kobo from Sony, but I got over it. That said, I could like them again, but not at the price of the boxy design of the sidebuttoned Forma, Libra, Oasis. And then I’d be afraid that bottom buttons a la Sony would result in an overbalanced reader to hold, especially at 8”. If I can’t one-hand it, I’m not interested.

(The other hand is for the chips. Or the glass of wine.)

I'd prefer the wine.

Even when Sony had both buttons and touch screen, I didn't use the buttons. When I've handled a Kindle 4NT, I've tried to use the non-existent touch screen. I am so used to a touch screen that without, the reader is not useful to me.

Touchscreen is nice to have, but I could manage without. Buttons I must have. I've had exactly one buttonless reader in the 9 years I've used ereaders, and it mostly gathered dust on the shelf, because I didn't like to use it. That's also the reason I bought my first Kobo only last year. They didn't have devices with buttons before the Forma. Amazon, OTOH, has always had one buttoned reader, at the very least.

And I fell in love with the lopsided design at the moment Amazon released the 1st gen Oasis. Now I prefer that over anything else.

Wine is totally out. I cannot stand alcohol. Not on principle, but because of its taste and the fact I get a nausea/headache even from a small amount. Never been able to consume any alcoholic beverages. Which is not so bad, I guess, I can spend the money on other things. Like ereaders.

I think there's room for both an Aura TWO and a Forma line. I have both and use both every day, but tend to like the Aura ONE's feel in the hand and its no-button frame. I realize that page turn buttons are currently the style, but I would wager that Kobo would sell a good number of Aura TWOs if it chose to make them. If they ever did, I also hope they'll tune up the response on the screen, which for me is the Aura ONE's biggest problem, as I do a lot of annotations, and dragging the field around can be a real problem.

I'm making the opposite journey - I saw no need of page buttons on my H2O2, but like how much less work they make reading on my Libra. I actually wish all the menu functions were accessible via the buttons, then I would not need to touch the screen at all.

If we are going to do this, we should at least get the order right:

Kobo Aura One
Kobo Aura 2nd Edition

Well, I'm glad that's not the way of things as I find Readers without touch to be a major step backwards. I cannot see why page turn buttons are so important when there is a perfectly good touch screen.

Um, there are those potato chips which make fingers greasy...

Seriously though, using even clean fingers leaves fingerprints which drive me crazy. And I can always see them, no matter how bright or dim the environment is. I guess some people have very dry skin or just don't pay attention to such minor details, but I'm extremely bothered by fingerprints on my ereader screens.

There's the also the ease of truly one-handed use, as in not using the other hand at all, for whatever reason. The real issue though is one of choice. To be unable to conceive or concede that others might have other preferences or needs, and to think that one's preferring a particular option or solution automatically means that solution is best and should be the only one is quite a sad, empathy-deficient mindset. Hooray for choice, I say.
