A Paperwhite, or similar device, with improved font, line spacing, and margin control. The 8 font sizes are just not good enough. I switched to a Kobo because of their superior, IMO, font control.
I need a larger font, but the Kindle font sizes offered between the 4th and 5th largest is so jarring...smaller increments and twice the sizes would be a huge improvement. The screen touch/slide for the front light control is nice too. At least 4gb For storage, I don’t need page turn buttons, speakers, or a card slot. Not sure about a flush screen, I am not sure I’d like it. No corners to catch dust might be nice. I wouldn’t mind a somewhat larger screen, 7” maybe, isn’t the Kobo One just under 7”? I’d most likely go back to a Kindle in a if it had those features. Edited to add...a size that is more tall than wide, like a paperback. Not shaped like the Oasis. Similar to US ½ sheet size, 5.5” wide by 8.25” tall. About the size of the iPad mini, or a smidge smaller. Last edited by Deskisamess; 10-08-2017 at 09:15 PM. |

There are a lot of 6.8" 300 dpi panels out right now, I'm really hoping that indicates a larger paperwhite. I had forgotten that in my first post.

I don't think they are going to have a press event for a upgrade model of an existing Kindle. That's not saying they could release upgrades as they have in the past when announcing a new product. Whatever it is I bet it's a new concept product or service.

I just hope its a new kindle, especially as the Oasis stock seems to have fallen by the wayside. I do like my Voyage but i've been after a second kindle for a year now and didn't want to buy a second Voyage or the Oasis.

Amazon is Building a New Warehouse in Winchester VA area. Or maybe its the East Coast New Head quarters... That would be a great announcement!

I’m not planning on updating. Not after spending so much for the Oasis. I do love the size and weight of the Oasis, and the buttons. But the price was ridiculously expensive. So, I will have to behave myself and not even consider buying a new Kindle at this point. Hopefully I can control myself and not give in to new device lust. ![]() |

I'm content with my current reader. For my mom, I would want a bigger reader (bigger than 6.8), with a lot of font size, line spacing, ... Options.

Increasing both RAM and storage can be beneficial, but for different reasons. An increase in RAM will greatly benefit such things as the display of complex PDFs (which can take a lot of memory to process). An increase in storage space (obviously) allows more books (or other files) to be stored. |

Wouldn't that run counter to the entire design philosophy of the Oasis? The whole point of it is that it will waft away on a slight breeze precisely because the weight of (most of) the battery has been transferred from the device into the cover.

Yeah, I just fixed my typo.
I meant the 7.8" 300 dpi screens. Like the Illumina XL HD 7.8" Android. I hope the prevalence of those screens means that Amazon is ordering them too, and just taking longer to design and release a good firmware. |
