Let's just say that before ebooks, it was more along the lines of me living in a library. All the paperback books that I have ebook copies of are now stacked alphabetically in plastic storage bins which occupy one wall of my bedroom.

When I was traveling for a living in the '80s I spent any free time in new and used books stores. My partners might go out drinking, but I put my money and time into books.

Excellent choice. I also had my books in bookshelves in a good area. Most of them went in 2000 when it appeared reading was no longer an option. Thank goodness for audio books and ebooks!! Going through my late sister's paperbacks made me really miss my DTBs, but I know I can't read any of these so I just write down titles and authors of interesting ones (I can read the back covers) to get later in ebook or audio book.

I have a section of my basement that is covered on three walls by about 10 - 4 x 6 foot bookshelves with what remains of my paper books. I've thrown many outdated technical/reference/nonfiction books out. Many of those shelves are double and triple stacked with paperback SF books, Two shelves are poetry and the rest a combination of fiction, nonfiction writing, poetry, bioographies, music books etc.

I actually have probably several dozen titles in both ebook and paper. For a while I insisted on buying poetry books only in paper (mostly because of the formatting issues with ebook) but now they seem to have worked a lot (but far from all) those format issues out. Ebooks are way more convenient!

Here's one of my poetry shelves:

ETA: Aha! Found one of my 'library' as well (there are a few other shelves scattered throughout the house and yes I've read all but a few % of them.

I'm averaging 50-60 books a year, and i give myself about 10 years tops, before I croak.. so 5-600. I used to read a lot more, before the days of TV and computers.
