Excellent! A couple of years ago I decorated a couple of CDs and hung them on the Christmas tree. Turned out to be a very good way to recycle some of those AOL software CDs I kept getting in the mail.

'Tarnished' ?!?
That's 'distressed' is what it is.
It's supposed to look like that - it's fashionable, hmfph!

You're my new Hero I haven't read so much gibberish in one post since, uhh, well actually, since the last post of yours I read on here, come to think of it. Didn't realise you were Marc, but it seems I did know you before I thought I didn't after all!

Borag Thungg, Marc! Nice to meet you, ignore the frills and the dirty spots on what should otherwise be an untainted lampshade. Ok, that was a lie. I can't back that up. My lampshade is so dirty the dirt has evolved.

I think I see the problem. Knife-juggling is a dangerous thing when you're clearly as mental as a bag of spanners...

Yes, thank you; again, yes; and finally, that's tech support's job.

Could have been worse; I could have challenged her to a duet, and with my voice... yeesh. Also, it could have happened at sea. They say worse things happen at sea. I suppose it's true, since I can't swim. That would be worse.

Just now, or generally? If just now, do you have visions about current topics of discussion often? If so, let's talk about rhinos wrestling in custard, that should be entertaining.

The bastards! The only thing eviller is me; I can't actually play the guitar, I'm not even as good as playing Kum ba yah or John Mayer songs.
But why would Evil Robot Guitars (tm) want to do everyone a favour and take over the world? Surely they'd prefer to leave us in the hands of the idiots we already have...?

It's ok, I'm getting a bit bored of those, not to mention they get lost in a pint of cider.

Ahh, it's hard to see with a lampshade on your head.
I thought the propensity for immolation was a requirement for entry...

I went to a High School graduation party where blank CDs were strung up to the ceiling as decoration. I was the guy who collected dozens of CDs after the party to take home because they are, after all, MEDIA.

Heh, I bet you still own floppy disks? 8" ones? I used to have quite a collection of stuff I called 'antiques' but which my ex-wife called 'junk'.

No 8" floppies, but a box of 5.25", 3.5" of course, and "ZIP" media in various capacities. My home system even has a zip drive.

I love the dichotomy of the old computer stuff; it's so old, but it's still highly advanced technology. And of course I love the comparative power of the later stuff.

Guess I'm just a technology whore...

Well, the absolute silliness got 'way out of control in this thread. I thought I'd pop in long enough to say "Welcome", but felt obliged to update my avatar with a lampshade first.

Welcome to MobileRead. I don't have to encourage you to jump in and get to know those who hang out here.

Hey, it's a new trend!! Except you took the time to make yours look really good, dammit!

I think we need to have a lampshade party. Marc, did you arrange one yet?

Thanks very Elsi, it's much appreciated!
