Okay, maybe not the best comparison.

But my point was supposed to be that LiquaVista is potentially useful enough that I don't think Amazon will forget about them.

Not letting the competition be able to pull a move on you is a useful advantage. Amazon can put minimal amount of money into research until someone else tries to do a color ereader.

No, they can't really forget about paying their bills.

But after three years and no visible output they might be wishing they could. Like the politician said: "a million here and a million there... pretty soon you're talking real money..."

Nate seems to doubt it's happening according to this blog post. Oh, wait. That's a post from 2012. Oh well. Did find something in my Google search, though, so maybe the rumor's true.

Well... as you may know, I'm very outspoken about DRM on e-books. I also know a lot about the history of DRM, and companies that just left their customers hanging when they went out of business; saddling customers hundreds or thousands of euro's of inaccessible or lost content.

I once wrote a post here on MobileRead about why encryption DRM was bad, and why I would never buy content that can not be un-DRM-ed (except if I don't care to lose said content, such as some $5 play-once-and-forget games at Steam).

GoodEReader took that post, and made an article out of it, stating that it was written 'by an expert in the field of publishing.' If I remember correctly, I even mentioned that here on MR.

Since that time, GoodEReader has been marked as an untrustworthy source for me.

LOL! Well put. In the USA one only has to watch a news agency live on air as a tragic event is unfolding. You can see with your own eyes what is happening and what is being said by the active parties involved in the incident. Yet the journalists reporting it will be reporting something totally incorrect, often not even close to what has just happened. And they are supposed to have at least a little training in journalism, although that is often questionable. So you can imagine that what is essentially a web blog with NO verifiable credentials will screw up. We have a lot of web blogs run by complete and utter idiots who do little more than mine the internet for information, never try to verify nor analyze how reliable it is, do not even have the intellectual capacity to analyze it, and yet they are posting things as if that information is true. Then other blogs start quoting the first idiots, then before long stupidity has bred an absurd level of stupidity, and people who tend to be stupid anyway are taking it as fact. Welcome to the human species...

I was joking when I quoted that (2011) link to GoodEReader, but that does make me wonder if I've ever been quoted as an expert on that site.

If you have some very strong opinions about something, and wrote a good post on it on MR here, you probably are. I only discovered it by accident.

I was looking around if a hack had been found against the ADE 3.x DRM. That turned up a discussion on Alf's blog, and someone there linked to GoodEReader, stating that 'they had posted a piece, written by an expert on digital publishing, who stated that DRM should be abandoned as soon as possible' (or something along those lines).

Then I went to read that post, and I found that this 'expert on digital publishing and DRM' was actually me, myself and I. I'll try to find the post, but I wonder if I can... It's even hard to search for me posting about GoodEReader, because I've written it differently through the years; Good E-Reader, GoodEReader, or Good-E-Reader, for example.

I've mentioned it here, for example.

According to this: http://www.liquavista.com/technology...lectrowetting/ it takes a few milliseconds.

The liquavista tech doesn't 'rotate' a liquid - it uses electrowetting - removing an electric field to spread a liquid over a pixel's surface, while applying the field causes the liquid to form a sphere in the corner of the pixel.

This appears to be fast enough for video refresh speeds.

Of corse they are developlng a color ereader. The screens exist but too expensive for average cosumer. They were expermenting with this years ago but never brought color ereaders to maket yet.

Guys I was being tongue in cheek. No they have not forgotten about it.

They may never decide liquivista is good enough or cost effective to use in a product line, they may even end up selling it off, but that is a different story.

If I have to bet, I'll bet that we will see one.
