My children learned early on that "text speak" is not acceptable to me, any more than bad spelling/grammar is. It was a condition of them using the computer or phone to text/message/chat with their friends. Use proper grammar and spelling or lose the privilege.

Note: my daughter was in her early 20's when I got my first cell phone that I could text on.
She should know better.
But then she doesn't want to live with me. I would make her get a J O B if she wanted any luxuries like internet, TV, washing machine, food, etc.
Her daddy lets her lay around and do nothing.

That was welcome to Mobileread and we all get silly at times. I am not real sure that any of those were actual internet abbreviations.
Here are a couple of common ones
IIRC is if I remember correctly.
YMMV is your mileage may vary.

Very often a forum member will build a properly formatted and proof-read book for you.

Are you having problems finding titles you need? There are lots of sources out there, such as gutenberg.org, feedbooks.com, manybooks.net, archive.org (but its books are quite minimally OCR'd, and need lots of text corrections), and dozens of sites with "read on-line" as their reason for being.

A good source to hunt for links to specific titles or authors is the Online Books Page, which is solely devoted to links to source files for public domain titles /authors (they seem to concentrate mostly on gutenberg.org, archive.org, and hathitrust.org, and some sites hosted by universities, but it gives an excellent starting point.)

Sure, you can claim whatever licence you want, but that doesn't mean that it has any validity. As I said earlier in the thread, in order to be protected by copyright, the material you add to a book has to be "creative" in nature. A systematic change in spelling doesn't quality.

At the end of the day, it would be for a court to decide whether a copyright claim was valid.

It's not my opinion that copyright requires creativity, but a simple statement of fact. "Mechanical" changes don't quality. Of course, it might require a court to decide whether or not something is creative, but that's a different matter.
