I bought my Voyage at Best Buy on the launch day. The sales rep did not know what I was talking about, but she was nice enough to triple check, and to run through the storage room (which is huge) to find one for me. But she really had no clue about e-reader, Kindles, the PW or the Voyage. And she was in charge of that Dpt... !!

Every major manufacturer has a rep that calls on every store from time to time, usually weekly but it varies. They'll often offer the sales staff what are called "spiffs". I'm not sure of the spelling but that describes how it's pronounced. These are cash rewards paid directly to the salesman by the rep for each sale of whatever item they want to push that week.

I worked for a short time in a store a few decades ago and the spiffs then were typically between $10 and $20 per sale of that item. Occasionally as much as $35. I suspect it's a lot more these days. For a salesman who isn't making much money that's a lot of extra cash. By the way, it's not recorded so it's essentially tax free, or at least it was back then.

So any salesman with half a brain will recommend the product with the best spiff. If you want an unbiased answer about what device to buy don't ask a salesman. Do your own research and ask questions about the stuff you don't understand in forums like this.

There are idiots and opportunists working everywhere; no business is free from them. The experiences I've had with Best Buy have been mostly good, and even the one time that comes to mind that wasn't ideal worked out well in the end. I continue to shop there with no reservations.

My best buy has the displays but can't seem to get any of the voyage in stock 😡
I gave up and ordered from Amazon. The sales people aren't very helpful at all in that section.
