Open Road Media are holding a Teen Read Week sale until Oct 18th on the following titles on their announcement page. There's a bit of overlap with their other promo ongoing until Oct 31st in gweeks' dedicated thread for all their Halloween-themed sale stuff, so you can pick up additional books by selected authors (there's some old school kidlit classics names like Lois Duncan and Zilpha Keatley Snyder).

Thought Junction Publishing has reduced the price of their entire "Jaw-Dropping Geography" series by Jess Roche to FREE!

I've made only a cursory examination, but I noticed that these are booklets of about 25-50 pages each. One thing that I was especially impressed with is the presence of cover-to-cover photos and illustrations, in beautiful, vibrant color. These booklets are very well done, at least aesthetically. Although I am a little bit past childhood now (ha), I got all 12 booklets for myself.

The series appears to be more about history than geography. These booklets seemed to be targeted toward kids in about the 4th-7th grades.

Oh, I guess that I should mention this, too: The regular print list price of these booklets is $12.99 each; the digital list price is regularly $2.99.

May I make an editorial comment? Thanks. IMHO kids need to be reading more of this kind of thing, instead of all of the fantasy and other fiction stuff that many of them read exclusively now. There, I've had my say about that.

They were all free when I posted them. I was scared there for a second that I might have goofed up and mistook the Kindle Unlimited price for the Kindle price. I am certainly boneheaded enough at times to do something like that. But I went to my Amazon account and saw that I paid $0.00 each for all of them.

I really hate it that they didn't stay marked down longer after I posted them. That is such a great series of kids' non-fiction books! Unfortunately, I don't know any way, in many cases, to know how long marked-down books will stay marked down (if anyone knows a way, please let me know).

It depends on who's releasing them and what they feel like doing. Certain publishers/authors have very definite patterns, others don't.

But for KDP Select freebies which are only available from Amazon due to the exclusivity agreement (chances are if you see something in the US/UK is listed as a Kindle Unlimited book, it'll be one of those) those have a time limit of up to 5 free days permitted out of every 90, and the switchover for them is at midnight Pacific Time, rather than the usual 1 AM for publisher promo freebies.

So while it's not exact, you can at least guess at a probable maximum range. And many authors/publishers who do KDP Select tend to repeat their freebies over time.

Yep. But the best posters (whose efforts I appreciate) can do is report 'em when we see 'em. Thank you for doing so. And we bargain hunters who see the posts have to regularly check in on these boards. As I communicated with Crich in another thread, about a another short-lived deal I'd missed, "Snooze you lose; slow, you blow".

FYI, I didn't print my observation to criticize you; rather, my intention was to warn off others who - like I - had missed the freebie deals for "regular" Kindle Purchases.

There's a bit of overlap with their other promo ongoing until Oct 31st in gweeks' dedicated thread for all their Halloween-themed sale stuff, so you can pick up additional books by selected authors (there's some old school kidlit classics names like Lois Duncan and Zilpha Keatley Snyder).
