I tried it out a few weeks ago. You use the app to scan codes off print books you own. The only hits I got were for O'Reilly Press tech titles, though they've supposedly signed with one of the Big 5 publishers recently.

At least in my quick test, it just linked me to existing O'Reilly Press Web deals. It may just be a shortcut to each publisher's bundle offering in the end.

I understand what you're getting at, so I appreciate your post. I still disagree that there is any moral distinction between downloading an MP3 album of a CD you own, or downloading the ebook version of the physical book you own. It feels like a distinction without a difference. I suppose there's an argument to be made that you're 'facilitating' copyright infringement by downloading, but I don't see how that argument can be made unless you're also uploading (a la bitorrent).

I doubt we're going to convince each other in this topic, but I appreciate your well articulated responses (this goes for DuckieTigger as well).
