It works perfectly.

Your obsession with the standard use of the comma is the only thing that doesn't work. I don't think the comma is optional, but maybe someone will provide a solution I'm not aware of.

obsession seems like a strong word, maybe because I'm a woman and I have a developed aesthetic taste and the comma bother me
