First, thank you Blossom & Lynx-lynx for your information about the genre Women's HF. I learn quite a bit from your posts.

@haydnfan: Is there an option to change the title of a thread after you created it? If there is, I appreciate your help to guide me on the matter..

LOL, when I created this thread, all I knew was these:
(i) I found some great deals on books that I loved, i.e. Women's Historical Fiction (Thanks Blossom for clarifying this, I don't know much about genres, so all of the HF about Women, and occasionally Men, from a Woman's POV that I read were from women, so well...),
(ii) I found them on Amazon UK and
(iii) why not sharing the info with other readers with similar taste?

Stupid me! What I found after posting the harmless deals are these:
(i) there must be a certain guideline to title a thread, i.e. nothing specific, why not just "ebooks" since the thread is in a Deals subforum, it must be a bargain, right? and since gender specific is somehow offensive, it should be neutral, right? and worse why titling it "ebooks", this is an ebook forum, noone should talk about deadtree books anyway...
(ii) nothing is harmless (even your intention is harmless), somehow someone will find it offensive (sigh!!!) and
(iii) I shouldn't even have my own taste (i.e. prefer WHF in Women' POV) since it is not right to other readers

By the way, where is the simple courtesy of a simple "Thanks" when someone's trying to help? Does this whole mess mean trying to do something nice will get you scolded? I rest my case and the thread too...
mimosavj please don't discontinue the thread because of comments that have both puzzled and offended you. Your thread covered a genre that didn't seem to be otherwise covered, and you can name the thread what you want. If either the name or the content of thread doesn't suit someone then they don't have to visit it.

Start the thread afresh if you want and that will leave all these posts far behind.

When you first started the thread in September I subscribed to it. The topic of women in history, whether fiction or non-fiction, is of interest generally to me - particularly when written by women.

For too long women's achievements didn't exist as far as historians were concerned - but women have always played their part and contributed.

The problem is that the OP did not say that the thread was about "women in history" (which you're right, it is an interesting topic) but "historical fiction written by women", which is a very different thing. Eg, "historical fiction written by women" would include Lindsey Davis's "Falco" Roman detective series, but that's not what the OP actually wants. Neither would the OP be interested in Hilary Mantel's wonderful "Wolf Hall", because it's not about women.

If you want a particular type of book, it makes sense to accurately specify what it is that you want.

Am I missing something? I didn't see where the OP stated that she was looking for a book. Only that she found some sales and shared them.

Agreed...if available to me, I could possibly find something of interest here.

Please do not give up on the thread due to naysayers...if they want to create a thread for Greek War Mythologies from the perspective of the descendents of Ares, I would gladly take a look at that one as well

Bring Up the Bodies: A Novel (Wolf Hall)
by Hilary Mantel

is $1.40 at Amazon

(Sorry I cannot provide a link. My IP address is not originated within US territoriy. So Amazon directs me to a page which shows the book's price of$3.40, always $2 surchage for international customers.)

Below is the blurb:
Winner of the 2012 Man Booker Prize
Winner of the 2012 Costa Book of the Year Award

The sequel to Hilary Mantel's 2009 Man Booker Prize winner and New York Times bestseller, Wolf Hall delves into the heart of Tudor history with the downfall of Anne Boleyn

Though he battled for seven years to marry her, Henry is disenchanted with Anne Boleyn. She has failed to give him a son and her sharp intelligence and audacious will alienate his old friends and the noble families of England. When the discarded Katherine dies in exile from the court, Anne stands starkly exposed, the focus of gossip and malice.

At a word from Henry, Thomas Cromwell is ready to bring her down. Over three terrifying weeks, Anne is ensnared in a web of conspiracy, while the demure Jane Seymour stands waiting her turn for the poisoned wedding ring. But Anne and her powerful family will not yield without a ferocious struggle. Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies follows the dramatic trial of the queen and her suitors for adultery and treason. To defeat the Boleyns, Cromwell must ally with his natural enemies, the papist aristocracy. What price will he pay for Anne's head?

Bring Up the Bodies is one of The New York Times' 10 Best Books of 2012, one of Publishers Weekly's Top 10 Best Books of 2012 and one of The Washington Post's 10 Best Books of 2012

itisbomb, why not send your computer on a short holiday via Tunnelbear or some other free VPN. Tunnelbear is however, ridiculously easy to set up. I am in France, but my IP seems to be in the UK right now. Next it will be off to the USA for a short break.

I actually have access to VPN at home. But when I'm out, my internet speed is quite slow enough and VPN will only make it worse.

But I sincerely appreciate your suggestion and thank you for your advice.
