Thanks for posting the Delima. For some reason this doesn't look the same as the original to my eyes. It's narrower than the original (unless I'm imagining things).
I think I've found a good replacement with Radley. It's a bit more spaced-out horizontally, which is what I was looking for. I also like the Charis SIL others have mentioned. I think I'll switch back and forth for a while and try them both out. |

If you sideloaded it, yes it will be thinner/narrower than in pre v.2.0.0. It's one of the reasons I won't update beyond 1.9.17 anymore. The Sabon LTStd OTF font that I use looks really good in 1.9.17 nice and full body letters, great looking italics and the bold really stands out but after 1.9.17 it looks thin, almost as if it was annorexic. Yes I could use one of the ones that come loaded with the firmware and I have tried them all, but they just pale in comparison to the Sabon (pre 2.0.0).

I'm very happy with it, and the fact that you can't tweak sideloaded fonts doesn't matter, as it looks so good out of the box. Nice work JSWolf. ![]() |

Would like to read with Avenir but the italics are and have long been broken. So I read with Gil Sans which is OK but still a bit over styled for my taste.

Now that Avenir and Gil Sans BOTH have broken italics, can anyone recommend a clear sans- font that looks right on the Kobo? (I've only ever used and am happy with standard weight and sharpness) When I've tried to use sideloaded fonts before they always looked way too light/thin.

Does anyone have working Malabar font files lying around by any chance? I use it to read on my Mini. Would like to do the same on my 1.9.17 Touch.
Giving Felbridge a whirl right now. Liking it a lot. |

It's been available on the Touch for a while and past posters have said "yes", it makes reading much easier for for dyslexics.

![]() Good to know that dyslexics needs have been considered - and one wonders why it isn't considered to be a 'natural' inclusion where font is a choice irrespective of the device. |

I am currently alternating between the Kobo Nickel (with the weight turned up a few notches in Advanced settings and Amaranth (a downloaded font, see below). Amaranth is a naturally "weighty" font and it also comes with an Italic version as well. The omission of Italic versions of Kobo fonts is frustrating and greatly lessens the reading experience. Instead of italics it displays the font in bold. Bold in written text I see as the equivalent of "shouting" which is most distracting. If the author put text in Italics, this is how they should be displayed.
The Amaranth font you can download from here http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/li...e/Sans%20Serif . Create a folder called fonts in the root directory of your Kobo and then just copy the downloaded fonts into this directory, the Kobo will then have Amaranth as a font option (explained better here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU7JpaKlyMc). The only disadvantage of a downloaded font is that Advanced options, for advanced tweaking, are not available from the Kobo menu. |
