I've always had a cover. Like others have said, I take good care of my things no matter how much they cost, and I like the convenience of a light builting with the case, just my preference.
I just switched from Kobo Touch to Sony T1 and lucked out on great deal on the official Sony case with light for $29. I love the custom fit, only reason I may change is I have nowhere for my stylus, I don't like that it doesn't stay closed via magnets or clasp, and depending how the 'shiny bezel' works for me, may change to accomodate those needs. BTW, has anyone ever had a problem scratching the screen using the stylus? KT didn't have that, and I like using the stylus [no fingerprint smudges on screen], but am concerned about light scratches! ![]() |

I don't see any scratches on mine, and I use the stylus. It's really nice. Great ereader.

BTW, how do people here feel about a non-glare protective screen? I use them on my phone, iPod, etc, but always wondered if I should try one for my ereader as well. |

One could argue that the Sony cover is somewhat flimsy and isn't going to protect your reader in <insert scenario here> and therefor you should get a "real" case like a <insert name of case here>. Use a case, use a skin, surround your reader in twelve inches of foam, use your reader naked... whatever. It's a $100 device that's reasonably fragile. Use your discretion on protecting or not protecting your investment. |

At the price you paid it's probably worth it but at the price I paid Sony completely ripped me off. If the stylus concerns you buy one for a tablet with a soft tip I don't think you would have a problem though. |

I have silicone cover for KT that offers no screen protection. I cut 22 gage (.80mm) galvalume steel roofing material to cover screen and easy fit between silicone cover and screen border. I rounded the corners of this Galvalume screen protector. Shearing the metal forms sharp edges that I removed by dragging sharp edge on concrete driveway grinding down the sharp edges. I then taped edges of the metal with electrical tape.
22 gage Galvalume is very ridged material. http://www.steelroofing.com/faqs.htm I used M6 Wiss offset aviation snips to cut Galvalume. http://www.use-enco.com/1/1/29492-m6...ion-snips.html This was easy project for me as already had tools and scrap metal. First make paper pattern out of 110 weight card stock to easily make correct fitting steel screen protector. If you ask someone that installs steel roofs they will probably cut this cover for small fee or free. You can buy sheet metal and Wiss M6 snips at building supply stores, Home Depot, or Lowes.
