I'm reading about the same amount, but I'm reading much different material. A lot more new/indie authors than before, and at the same time a lot more of the classics. The MR library is my favorite place for those by far.

That's been my line but I actually wonder now if I am reading more than those days as well. It's closing in on two years since I got the Kindle 2 and more than a year since adding Kobo to the mix. I am reading more now than I was a year ago and I am exploring new authors almost every week.

and in more places
![]() I carry the equivalent of a backpack stuffed with paperback books (No WiFi/3G needed) in the equivalent of one very-thin hardback. It is easy to find something to read and still have room for work related reference material ![]() |

Much much more and it appears faster reading experience with my Kobo. Also since I live in a small town there are no trips to the city to buy books. Also alot cheaper when the book I want to read is only out in hardcover. Love my Kobo

I definitely read more when I have an ereading device, even when that device was a 3lb Windows netbook, which is what I first used to explore ebooks. Not only was there an uptick when I got that device, but after it was stolen I went several months without a decent device (I'm not going to sit and stare at my 22" monitor to read a book, nor my 2.2" phone screen), and was still reading, but considerably less. The increase since I got my Nook Color hasn't been quite as steep (I'm gaming and forum-haunting quite a bit), but once again I'm always reading something, and once again can read just about anything I get it in my head to read, when I want to read it.

I began to read more than I was used to after I had bought a smartphone. I installed some reader program there and soon I was reading everywhere. After about half a year of such habit I decided to by a special device for reading, because the phone screen was killing my eyes and because the battery lasted so little. So now I can't say I read more than before I got my e-reader, but I definitely read with much more pleasure!

I already read a lot before but started to read less when space constraint became an issue. Aside from book cases, I have books in boxes in the closet, underneath the bed, underneath the sofa, etc. The only room we don't have books is the bathroom (for obvious reasons). Naturally, that has made me more selective about dt book buying. I do still borrow books from the library but driving to and from and finding parking isn't particularly convenient so it's not something I do every day or so.
With ebooks, I have virtually unlimited storage space and buying books is as easy as clicking a mouse button. No need to drive to and from the bookstore or wait for a shipment to arrive. While there can be long waiting lists for library ebooks, it just takes a few minutes from when I receive an email telling me an ebook is available that I have it checked out. Another nice thing, I used to always carry a book in my purse. With ereaders and other mobile devices, I can carry a whole library of books in a miniscule package. This convenience has greatly increased my reading as I can start on a new book immediately after I finish reading the first one instead of having to wait until I get home for new reading material. |

In my preKindle life my house was full, no room for anything else. And I was to lazy/busy to go to the library. So my reading had gotten to be very limited.
With my kindle, I don't have to worry about filling up the house, and I am finding plenty to read hear at MobileRead, Guttenberg, and Baen to keep me busy. I am reading much more today. In the new world order of a Kindle the house is still full. I am spending all my time reading not clean up. |

I am reading more than I did in some years before I got the reader. There was a time when I was reading this much as well, but that's many years ago.
The main reason I'm reading more now id that the reader makes it easy to adjust text size to whatever size my not very good eyes need that particular moment. Today I'm on "small", some days I'm on "large". |

I am reading about the same amount but have bought books at a faster rate since acquiring a K3 last September. But a lot of the books have been ones that I already had in dt format. I think I am reading fewer new books, because I am enjoying rereading books, even ones that I haven't looked at for 50 years.
And I still have several years' worth of unread dt books. The trouble is that I so much prefer the reading experience on the Kindle that I am quite reluctant to read the dt books. My reading has slowed right down in the past week. I am stuck on a novel from the 1930s by an author that I normally like. I hadn't read this book before, and can't quite bring myself to abandon it yet. Large chunks of it are boring me silly and then I come on a really clever and amusing passage and feel remotivated. |

I am reading about the same amount as before I got my NookColor, but I've always been an avid reader and lived within a short drive to the local library (right now I live within a 10-minute drive of two!). I'm also lucky now to have access to a decent sized regional digital library.
I tend to go in phases with my reading though. Some months I'll do nothing but read & zip through book after book, other months I get sidetracked with other hobbies. |

I'm reading more than ever. I live in Puerto Rico, a US protectorate. Here we don't have a public library system. What libraries we have are school and university libraries, they don't carry much fiction, so any book I want to read I have to buy. Before I got my reader I would have to pay shipping and wait a week for the book to arrive, sometimes US sellers refused to sell because they consider PR to be international, even though we have USPS and every major carrier everywhere. So now that I don't have to wait for my books and don't have to pay for shipping... well yeah I read and (and buy) more!

I am buying more books but reading less. Mainly as I tend to leave my Kindle at home unless I'm 100% sure it will be safe. Whereas before I'd always have a paperback in my bag.
Going away tomorrow and have taken the brave (for me) step of leaving paperbacks behind and using my Kindle at the hotel pool, maybe it will get me out of this 100% safe thing, who knows?! |
