Oh, I see what you're getting at now. I'm not sure he has a finished product yet.

I'm about 90% done, i need to make a metal battery cover, drill and tap 2 holes, and perhaps seal the paint.

The 2-3mm edges have proved to be a minor problem with some books, as they hit the margin just barely... In production I may try at lessen this to 1mm. The edges are covered with reflective tinfoil tape, then painted. The top is shaped, and then extra components were "shaped" by covering them with hot glue, and then masking tape. It looks pretty sharp unless you start trying to dissect it for flaws... and it still fits like a glove!

So what is a fair price for 20-30$ in materials and 3-4 hours of time?

ps(once im done i might run some battery testing to see how long they last... I can tell you it will be more than 10 hours, but i dont know how long...)
Sounds like I've found what i'm looking for. I think what you have here is a great idea. I'm also tired of trying to use my lightwedge with my PRS-505.I'm interested to see the finished product.

I have finished this version, and have a list of things I want to improve before I make a batch of them. To fund the design / research I am selling this one. The thread can be found here.

Thumbs up

Ohh, I like the lgp idea! Any updates?

Have you considered using a lipo battery? The voltage is almost perfect, all you would need would be a low voltage cutoff circuit to protect the battery from overdischarging, and a resistor or potmeter to control brightness.
Of course if you want to go fancy a circuit with constant current dimming would be very nice, but for this application I don't think it is essential.
You would end up with a very flat rechargeable batterypack wich has much more capacity than the 2032 cells.

Any progress on this front lately? I want a light that can be built into either the reader or the case so I don't have to carry it along. See I currently have a standard clamp light, but I can't carry that attached to the case all the time as it would be cumbersome and I don't want to carry it in my pocket all the time.

I wish the Sony had side lights like my old Palm m505 did. It was cool. If I could figure it out and do it without mutilating my reader, I'd open the thing up and install some myself, but I can't figure out how I'd get them to turn on and off even if I did manage to install them.
