I'm afraid I don't understand. How does the presence of a camera affect the availability of apps? Sorry if I'm being dense!

You're absolutely correct. That is the intent. It's also why many pass on buying "one" when they have "one" already. It's not like you can customize the screen(s) for each device to give it a unique flavor. No, I'm not talking about shuffling app icons around the screens.

Does iOS have the ability to provide widgets and other goodness that Android provides?

To those who don't know me, I'm not bashing. I have Apple products.

I don't see the facetime-users during the handson having any trouble using that...

I'm not interested in photography on a tablet. It's app use I'm talking about.

Take this app for example - Google Goggles. It's a great search tool. You take a picture with your device and the app will identify the object or translate the text or find stores selling it, etc.

The problem is, Google requires an auto-focusing camera in order to use this app. That means I can't use it on my iPod touch 4. It also means the new iPad won't be able to use it. The Galaxy Tab on the other hand can use it, as with most of the newer smartphones.

Lack of a compass or GPS also prevents me from using some cool apps.

Wow! That's thin. I have no problem with thin, as long as it doesn't cripple functionality.

That's what I thought, hence my question about your comment about their lack meaning that you couldn't run some apps. Were you referring to the WiFi-only iPad when you said that?

Sorry for the confusion, but I was referring to my iPod touch in that last sentence. I don't have an iPad.
