I was widowed twelve years ago after nursing a dying, cancer-ridden husband for two years. I also waited for the anniversary before scattering his ashes. One feels that it is somehow symbolic, and it feels difficult to part with them before that - it is the finality that hurts.

My sympathies to you and your mother.

when Dad decided to die, he was quick about it. 18 days from hospital admission to death. I'm REALLY not looking forward to this, there are some raw open wounds between my mother, sister and I

KK, If anyone tells you that their family is like The Brady Bunch, they are lying through their teeth. I learned to use 'The Dome of Silence', where I was pleasant, smiled a lot, and got the heck out of there as soon as possible. I also learned to not bad-mouth anyone, as it can come back in years to come and bite you on the bum. In other words *just be a spectator*, even when you feel like running amok with a hatchet.

You need a few days off to just be a 'female'. No rescuing, saving, bungy jumping, fishin' 'n huntin', attacking, mountain climbing or roughing it. Let go!

Lecture is over, and it's all meant sincerely.

Cheers
