WOW how biased are you argument !
We were saying that epubs format are more ubiquitous then Kindle unique format.
and you have replayed that Amazon has sold 6.6 million units its eReader lol

you are funny really
listen guys forget all reviews !, go buy Kindle because 6.6 million units were sold.
what a strange kind of math are you preaching !
I do not find constructive keeping a debate with you, so far does not look like you smart enough to read and analyze a simple statement.

The amount of units sold it is a clear indicative of the amount of ebooks sold by same company too. So, based on that, do you think B&N has sold more or less books than Amazon? Also, based on those numbers which are a fact, not my opinion, which ereader do you think that people prefer most?

It is very simple. People prefer Kindle, because more selection, service, concept, etc. If you don't like the Kindle, that's fine, it is your preference, but do not extrapolate your own taste to others, not without giving solid arguments about it.

You say B&N has sold more epubs books than Amazon, show me the article, then I believe you. Of course you can't or you will not, because not even Borders, B&N or Amazon, provide such statistics, not tied up to file format or book titles, they don't exist,

There are many places to purchase epub books. No one (with an eReader that reads epubs) is locked into one store.

As a side note, many are shocked when they leave the Kindle fold and find out they can't read their Kindle books on their new eReader. People are generally uninformed or misinformed about such things.

Actually, I was shocked when I sold my Nook, and I was NOT able to convert my own books, via Calibre, because they are DRM protected. It is not about the device, it is about the DRM protection and how many books (the ones you like) you can find or buy in your store. Saying that B&N support epub gives people a false sense of freedom, because is epub but is locked or protected, same like azw books from Amazon.

That is why I do not suggest a Nook or a Kindle to a 1st time buyer, but check what books he or she likes and find out based on availability and price which one is better.

What are you talking about? You can read any type of DRM-protected epub on a NOOK. Whether it's B&N's proprietary DRM or the standard ADE DRM. There is no false sense of security.

Did you read my statement well?

I had a Nook, I sold it. You cannot convert B&N epub books to MOBI because they are DRM protected files, not in a legal way. Again, it is not only about the format, is about the DRM protection.

Device: Kobo Aura and Kobo Mini, had a Nook, NOOKcolor, Nook STR.
It is true that B&N epubs lock you into their device just as much as Amazon does. The difference for me is that I can still buy (or borrow from the library) from other stores as long as they have ADE DRM.

The point is that we all have different needs or personal likes and dislikes. Not one reader will be right for every person. It is like why some choose a Blackberry or HTC over an iPhone, it varies depending on their personal needs and tastes. There really is no point for anybody to be so pushy or passionate about their choice. I love my Nook and would recommend one to anybody, but it might not be the right choice for some.

The legality depends upon where you live.

You are totally right! Your comment cannot be more precise than that.

I really don't understand your logic !
We are talking about book/ title availability not about the amount of ebooks sold !
if a store is selling a billion tons of potatoes it does not mean this store has all vegetables even if it is called the biggest vegetable seller of year !
It is like you are telling to someone go buy grapes from that vegetable store because its has old one billion tons of vegetables !whiteout mentioning to him that this store sells mostly potatoes.

You have to make a clear differentiation between the amount and the quality !!
There are more titles available outside the amazon club than inside it.
Thousands of titles are missing your kindle store even the most famous ebooks are missing there !!
