What app do you use to read Sony books? I use Aldiko on my Droid but it won't read DRM'd books.

This whole thing is very weird!

The Sony Style UK website currently says "We’re sorry, temporarily unavailable" for both their black and silver 650 models. It doesn't even have an option to check red availability even though it says it comes in all 3 colors on their introductory page. By the way, if you've never visited the UK website it's actually quite interesting how they market the ereaders differently on their spec and information pages. They even have different videos. (I helped an English friend decide what ereader to buy and that's why I am familiar with it)

The Sony Style Canada website currently says "In stock" for all 650 model colors, and it's on sale. The Canadian version of the Sony website is very similar to the US version.

On the iPhone, there is an app called Bluefire Reader that can handle ADE DRM'd books. It's relatively new. I haven't tried it yet, but it's getting positive reviews in blogs. I don't think they have an Andriod version, but you might want to google them.

Txtr for iPhone and Android will read DRM'd epub and PDF. I couldn't get it to work with sideloaded DRM'd books; had to upload the books to TXTR's website and then download into the app.

BlueFire on iPhone reads DRM'd books, including NookBooks, but no Android app yet.

The next version of Aldiko is supposed to support DRM'd epubs.

Otherwise, you'd have to strip the DRM to read on the Android.

ETA: "I couldn't get it to work with sideloaded DRM'd books" - What I meant by this was I tried adding the DRM'd books to the txtr folder on my Android phone but the app did not recognize the books. So I signed up for a txtr acct, uploaded the DRM'd books to my txtr acct, then downloaded the books into the txtr apps on my iPod and Android phone. It's not a pretty app, but the page numbering is the same as on the Sony reader, which makes it easy to switch between the mobile device and Sony Reader.

The Sonystyle site (USA) is showing the PRS-650BC as in stock at the moment. I had to search for that product number though, otherwise only the red one is displayed when following the site links to readers.

Wonder if the black cover for the 650 will show up the same way? Seems like they're trying to move that red inventory.

There will soon be a Sony Reader App for that. Sometime in Decmeber Sony is releasing a reader app for both Android and iOS.

So basically, the programmers of the SonyStyle website are morons.

Sure, Sony can be morons, but sometimes in a good way. It took me many tries before I could get the 10% student discount for the e-readers to show up, but it finally did, and that, combined with the moronic move by their recycling company of sending a $130 trade-in offer, got me a $60 (black) PRS-650.

I went into WH Smith on Friday and the guy said they won't be getting in anymore 650s because they are selling them through and a new version will be out in spring???? The 650 is no longer listed WH Smith website.

I went into Waterstones today and said this to the manager, it was the first he'd heard of it and said they have loads in stock. But, I have checked the Waterstones website and they no longer list it there either!!

What's going on? If its just stock issues fine but I dont want to buy one just to find out a new one is out with google ebooks support or something!

If the "new" version has Wifi, I don't care about that so much. I wonder what they'll call them -- 660? 675?

I'm hoping they call them 750, which means... I get my front reading light back AND crystal clear screen.
