April, you'll really like the cover with the light. I have the light cover and it's very nice.

I see they have new K3 covers and nook color covers (and the nook color isn't even yet released). So why do they think we are second class citizens?
Spend a little money & get a Tuff-Luv cover. I think they are great covers.

As for M-Edge, obviously they are putting their efforts where they think the money is. What other "truth" could there be?

That someone in charge of deciding what products to make is an idiot. That sounds like the real truth.

But as it is, I got a free light cover with my 650. I do agree that the Tuff-Luv cover is nice.

Hard to say. It might well be poor business judgment. Or it could be any number of other things - contract supplier problems, for instance. or maybe the CEO was frightened by a Walkman as a child. It certainly seems strange that such a huge potential market would be ignored. Maybe the market isn't really there.

Well, judging from what I've read, there has been enough interest in m-edge products for the new Sony and it's m-edge that don't want to make them. And now after the Martha Stewart recommendation for the new Sony, I'd think m-edge would be racing to make product. But no, m-edge is being asinine.

Jon, did you ever get a response from your second email?

I'm planning on emailing them and letting them know that I have decided to go with a Tuff-lov cover. Considering I've purchased 6 different covers and 3 booklights from them in the past 2 years and have recommended their product on many occasions to people who I know have purchased from them because of my recommendation, they are definitely losing a valuable customer.

I would like to know how many of their coveted Kindle and Nook customers are repeat customers. In this economy, ignoring any market share is just bad business.

I'll have to dig up the reply once I am at my desktop. I'm on the laptop now. It is too bad, m-edge is going to lose money because of this.

I'm sure M-Edge has their reasons for not making cases for the new Sony Readers and I'm no longer holding my breath waiting to purchase one. If they ever decide to produce accessories for the 350/650/950, I won't be counted as one of their customers.

BTW, I love their products and had cases for my previous 505 and 600.
Your not really missing out on anything as their quality has decreased since I purchased my 505 cover. I just bought the same two covers for my 900 that I had for my 505. No support whatsoever. They are on their way back to M-edge. To look at the 505 covers next to the 900 covers, one would think the 900 covers were made by a knock off company.

Very few vendors are making covers for the new Sony readers, while they all carry them for the Kindle, Nook and iPad lines. It obviously has to do with market share—if it was worth their time they'd make the cover.

I'm bummed I can't get an Oberon cover for my PRS-650. They say they still sell some of their PRS-600 covers and they fit the 650 with the velcro system, but I'm leery of trusting my reader to velcro. I like the corner loops.

I love the accessory based threads...

The velcro system used by Oberon works great. I know several folks who used the velcro system for their K1s and K2s and it worked great. The Kindle has not dropped out of the case and they used it daily.

Marcy, I purchased an Oberon cover for my 650 and it works just fine with the corner straps. I, too, was leery of using the velcro system, but the reader fits quite snugly with the corner straps.

You have to email/call them though as they no longer sell Sony covers through their website.
