It seems you have to make the change in input.lua after all. If there is no further progress, you might try to get help by posting to the koreader thread.

Coolreader is not supposed to handle pdf files.

This is strange, Have you tried downloading Koreader again and trying that? All you need to do to try, is just copy over/merge the new downloaded koreader folder from the download to the current koreader folder in your .adds folder. You could also try the "stable" version, or an not so current nightly.

Yes so very strange. I did try the a new Koreader, but same deal; I touch tap the screen and the cutpastedelete box appears and then freezes. I'm thinking of uninstalling ksm7 to start fresh, but I notice I am running the latest 3.16 update and I think the uninstall only goes to 3.13. Or would a factory reset be better( I don't have anything else on the device worth saving). Any ideas?

I did not know coolreader didn't read pdf's, so now at least I know something is running correctly.

BTW is there anything else besides Koreader that will read pdf's well. Should I try and install android and get a pdf reader like ezpdf( if that might even work)

Thanks for your patience and wisdom guys!

You can use the the 3.13 uninstall file. If by starting fresh you mean to install ksm 7 again, I do not think that this will make a difference on how koreader works.

I seem to remember that once an owner of a rather old Kobo Touch (without removable internal sd) had similar problems. I do not think he could make koreader work then. But I do not recall the details. Maybe you should contact the developers of koreader. They might ask you to produce a log file of the touch events to see what is happening, or something like that.

Would it be possible to do another kind Koreader installation, I mean I read somewhere on the forum about "file monitor" or something.

I'll probably just leave KSM then cause the other things work fine on it. Any tips suggestions on using/customizing KSM.

Thanks

Ps anybody tried installing android on the kobo touch?

This is not the thread to continue addressing Koreader workings and installation without KSM7 nor Android on Kobo devices. There are other threads in this subforum that address those issues. The sticky on "Adding alternative readers to Kobo devices" Is the old install guide with the old File Monitor (fmon) launcher method.

I can no longer get ksmAutoselectoption to launch "start nickel koreader switch". Previously as can be seen earlier in this thread, I had usersettings.txt as

Code:
ksmAutoselectoption=start_nickel_koreader_loop
and it used to work, but not anymore. I have koreader installed under /.adds/koreader/, but I believe I used to have it under /.kobo/ back when it worked.

Furthermore,
Code:
insertNickelKoreaderSwitch=true
insertKoreaderNickelSwitch=true
combineKoreaderAdditions=false
does not actually add those options to the main menu (which I interpreted as not in a submenu, as in adding it at the same menu level as "front light on", "info" etc.). They're still under the "koreader additions" submenu regardless of those settings, but they work fine when launched from that submenu.

help is as always, very appreciated.

tshering, thanks. I got both autoselect and adding entries to menu to work, but only after adding them from the configure gui (after adding the custom autoselect option to ksm_ini_options.txt) and not by directly editing usersettings. pretty strange.

as long as it works, that configure screen is way more comfortable anyway.

Since update 2 usersettings.txt is a relict that is not any longer needed/supported.

Hi, I just bought a kobo glo hd and install KSM07 on it
First thanks to this wonderful tool !
I haven't found any post describing the device activation trouble with this device.
From what I've seen, the script consider that the device is already activated when the number of lines in user table is different from 1.

On my device, the table is empty, when you activate it there's one line.
To discard activation, you have to insert one line consisting of 12 empty fields (random stuff should work too).

insert into user values ('','','','','','','','','','','','');

If I understand well the current script, on other devices, there's one line when the device is not activated, more than one otherwise. Maybe a fix for kobo glo hd would be to add a condition in the script when the result of the select is 0 to insert this line.

If you factory reset the device, the database is copied from the recovery partition to the user partition. The user table then contains already one line. If however you delete the database, nickel creates a new one, this time however with the user table being empty. I guess this is the same with Glo HD. Or has this changed and you did not delete the database?

The new script handles now both situations. Thank you for pointing to the issue!

I first activated the device creating a kobo account from the device. I then installed KSM and disconnected the kobo account in nickel options. The kobo then rebooted. When I launched nickel, it was back on activation screen.
From what you described, I guess disconnecting the account delete the database.

I just have a quick question, didn't find a koreader topic. But is it possible to add percentage read to the filemanager in koreader?

Koreader thread. It would not be in the file manager but it could be in the "History" menu, where the read position is noted. You could suggest it at the Github project. Oops, it looks like someone already did. (You could add the idea of having a "% read"for unfinished books)

Luck;
Ken
