Then select the "KOBOeReader" partition and click on the "Set Accessible" button. It should move to the top of the list. Now backup the partition table again and give it a name like; "AuraHD_FAT1st.dpt"

Close and exit Bootice. Open Windows Explorer and you should now have the FAT32 partition mounted and you can modify its contents.

When you are done, you open Bootice and restore the original partition table, that you saved earlier. Your uSD card should now work in your Kobo device again, with the changes you made in effect.

Now all you need to do to "Mount" the uSD card with the FAT32 accessible (for updates, ect.), is to "Restore" the FAT1st version of the partition table. Then make your changes and then restore using the backup of the original partition table."

Googling the "a link" in CSS, it seems to be for "active link" AKA "anchor link"and intended to provide "mouse over" effects and color changes. I doubt that, that feature is supported in KOreader, at this time. You could bring it up at GitHub.

If it is a feature of epub3, you might try it in Nickel.

Do not rush into opening the device. There is a chance that you will do some damage to it. Let us first try some other things.
Did you try to start nickel via tools > kobo diverse.msh > start nickel no fmon.sh. If nickel works you can factory reset the device if you decide to do so.

Did you try whether the device does mount an external sd? Insert the sd. After some seconds select tools > external sd.msh > show mount info sd.sh. If the device does mount the sd, we can use it to copy a kobo firmware update package to the device. Or, if this does not solve at least some parts of the problem, we can try to factory reset the device via a script. And maybe you want to save some files from the device to the sd.

For the moment do not try to uninstall or update KSM. Do not try to launch koreader. If the screen rotates, force the device to power off (by holding the power button for 20 seconds in the off position), and restart anew.

Another thing: You can also try to tap on the bottom corners while restarting. Somewhere in this forum, there is a description, I think you have to hold the power button or the light button pressed while doing so.

Reset - For use on a device that can or cannot be powered on:
1.Press and hold the power button for 5 to 6 seconds to turn it off
2.Press and hold the power button <--- THIS IS THE MORE IMPORTANT

Hey guys, thank you all for everything you do! I really appreciate it!. I was so thrilled to find out you did not have to settle for the stock stuff that came with the kobo touch.

I apologize for asking but I am need of help. I have searched the forum, but maybe I missed something because I have not been able to get the Kobo touch to work with Koreader ( I really would love to read PDF's properly on the Kobo touch)

Anyway Like I said I have a Kobo touch and it has the latest update 3.16.0
So get koreader I followed the instructions and tried first installing KSM according to the instruction from tshering https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=255978

after it installed I installed the latest release koreader-kobo-arm-linux-gnueabihf-v2014.11-267-g0b45394.zip of Koreader, but when I go to start koreader it seems like it want to work but just goes to a screen with some files(can't remember) but it does not show my book or pdf files at all.

Did I install thing wrong or do I not know how to operate the program correctly. I'm not an expert like you guys are, but I'm usually pretty good at things like this. Sorry to bother you guys, but I really need your wisdom

Ps when the instructions say to install KoboRoot.tgz files for example I only see a KoboRoot zipped file, but with no .tgz at the end anywhere. Sorry for all the noob errors!

Koreader opens in the File Manager. Tap the top of the screen to bring down the menus.

A few tips to get started:

Tap the ../ to navigate backwards.

Once you have navigated to the beginning of your library, you might want to "long press" on the link to that page (the "./" at the top of a page that you can select from the beginning page) and you should be given the option to "Set as HOME directory".

(That is an example of one of the conventions used; A long press on setting options will often let you set that option as default. This is used for many of the menu items.)

On my 10.1" tablet I set the Progress Bar to "Full" [bottom menu, gear icon] and long press that to make it default. Then I go to [top menu, gear icon] "Status bar" and uncheck "Current page", as it is in the header for the "Full" progress bar.

One of the most useful features is the "History" menu item. It provides a listing of your previously opened files, with your current read at the top of the list. Selecting an item brings you back to wherever you were in that book. [ One thing I do on occasion is to extract the maps from an .epub or sometimes, download a better map, and convert them for display on my device as PNG files. Once I've opened them, they will appear in the History, along with the book. I can then, leave the book and go to History and select a map. After looking at the map, I can got to History again and select the book, returning me to where I left off.]

Oh, I should add that, for PDFs, you can set the default to "Zoom to fit content" by long pressing on that selection, of the "Switch zoom mode" menu item.

That should be a start.

The KoboRoot Zip thing is probably so that it can be uploaded to MR. The KoboRoot.tgz is inside the zip file. (WinRAR is a good compression tool, if you don't have one already.)

You are seeing directories and files (directories have "/" at the end). Poke the names of directories in order to navigate through the directory system until you find your books. In case you get lost, remember that what you know as the root directory of the user partition is actually /mnt/onboard/.

If poking on file or directory names does not yield the wished result, and you have also problems poking the menu items, open the file ...koreader\frontend\device\input.lu, search for

-- For single-touch events (ABS.code).
local ABS_X = 00
local ABS_Y = 01

and exchange the values of ABS_X and ABS_Y:

This is necessary on some Kobo Touch devices.

Thank you guys for the replies! So I tried a fresh installation and added the Koreader folder into the .adds folder instead of .kobo. In the Kobo start menu I see Koreader and I click it and it sends me to the page which reads at the top File Manager underneath it has:
../ 3 items


kbmenupngs/ 4 items

I tried to tap any one of them and nothing happens except for a pop up box that Copy, cut, Delete, paste(which is not as dark font as the others) and Set as HOME directory Now i don't know what to do because I can't even get out of this page and clicking anything on the page does nothing.

PS I did try to change the Abs as suggested, but when I got to KSM and I try to open Koreader nothing happens it just flashes.

After poking the directory or file entry do not keep the finger there, do only shortly touch the screen.

If you shortly touch "Filemanager" on the top of the screen, a menu will open, touch the home symbol (a house) to exit.

From what you say above it seems this change is not necessary for your device. That Koreader does not work now however, is not related to this change, but maybe something other in input.lua has changed (maybe your editor save it in a different format or something like that).Maybe it is also somehow related to forcing the device to power off. Anyway, you can delete the koreader folder and copy the original newly to the device.

OK, that is what you would see at /mnt/onboard/, the default root for user software.

When you connect your device to your PC, it should show a "KOBOeReader" disk (drive letter), that is also /mnt/onboard on your device (under its OS).
There may also be a new "Removable Disk" (drive letter) listed, if there is an external uSD card inserted in your device. [That is /mnt/sd, on your device.]

Can you find where you put your ebooks using your PC's explorer/finder?

Yes I erased the old Koreader and installed a new one, but still no preogress.

I have my books on an external micro sd in a folder labled books, but I tried something else and copied some pdf's and epub books directly in the root folder. What happens is that when I start Koreader it goes to the FileManager page and now list the books I mentioned above. When I touch any of them it acts funny (it clicks on another book) and opens the Copy-Paste Cut Delete box. then it just freezes and I have to reset to get out. This is frustrating

(BTW I have to go from nickel's library and open books and look for koreader ,because I do not have a Koreader tile when I start nickel) if that matter at all.

Oh and long or short touches doesn't make a difference.

You should not be in nickel, to use Koreader. You should start Koreader from KSM7. Then just poke the ../ and then tap sd/ , then tap your books/. You should now be in your library. You can then long press the ../ at the top of the page and select Set as HOME directory. You tap anywhere outside the message box, to dismiss it.

It sounds like your attempts to just touch/tap/poke the touchscreen are being read as long presses. You should make sure that the screen and the edges/gap is clean. Just a hair or tiny crumb, in the wrong place can mess up the IR touchscreen.

Yeah I checked and cleaned the screen well and nothing. Its so weird because I tap on one thing, something else flashes and the COPY PASTE CUT DELETE BOX appears and then everything freezes. I might not know how to do this very well but I can't be that off.


BTW I also installed Coolreader and all the games (chess, etc...) work, but even then it just opens my epub books, but no pdf's. Even though I can open my pdf's in the reguler kobo nickel.
