I just started "The Lost City of Z." I think I'm going to love it. I just saw too that they are making a movie out of it, and Brad Pitt plays Fawcett. Interesting.

Are you a masochist? I once spent a Spring in San Antonio and that was as much Summer as I'll ever need!

I guess it is what you are used to. I also lived in VA and couldn't stand the humidity and constant overcast. I was at Langely AFB in Hampton.

You've got me there! The humidity's even worse at my house. I live at one end of the Dismal Swamp. Nights can sometimes be torture. To get rid of the humidity, I often run the A/C on nights when it would otherwise be unnecessary.

I don't care for heat or humidity, but we do have an above-ground pool that makes Summers tolerable.

Whoa! That Avatar fooled me. Thought you were ShortAndCuddly there for a minute.

Sounds like you need a dehumidifier......we have the opposite problem here in Denver -- very dry air -- particularly in winter.

I know, I thought he was Am, too. Had to stop and check the username. I will admit that summers in Texas can border on unbearable. Last summer here in Illinois was about as perfect weather-wise as one could ask for, though. Temps below 90 F most of the time, lower than usual humidity. Hoping for more of the same this year.

My neighbor recommended it. It's patiently waiting on my Kindle.

Reading 'Earth' by David Brin. Like sci-fi as a diversion when not reading horror or adventure. Kind of cleansing to the palate!
