Currently dividing my reading time between "Løgnhalsen fra Umbrien" (The Fabulist from Umbria) by Bjarne Reuter, "Hero wanted" by Dan McGirt, and "Howards End" by E. M. Forster.

Just finished a short, brisk zombie thriller from young author Eloise J. Knapp called THE UNDEAD SITUATION.

Just reread Fritz Leiber's "Our Lady of Darkness".
About to start "The Ceremonies" by T.E.D. Klein.

Finished "K." last night. A nice romance, nothing to Jane Austen (whose books I re-read just before that) but engaging. And finally getting to the end of the Louis XIV biography. After that I still need to finish The King of Elfland's Daughter, which I kind of dropped in the middle. And I haven't opened Proust in a while either...

Yeats, of late.

THE SONG OF WANDERING AENGUS

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;

And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Reading "Demon Mistress" by Yasmine Galenorn. I want to go ahead and read the latest, "Bone Magic" but I know if I do, I'll have to wait until October for the next installment. Does anyone else pace themselves with series to avoid the long waits between installments? Or put off reading one if you know it's the end of a much-loved series?

Just about to start "The City and the City", by China Mieville, and have been reading some Robert E Howard short stories.

Finally finished the Louis XIV bio. It was intersting but a bit frustrating at times, but I suppose that's inevitable since I don't know enough about that period to understand everything. I could have wished for a little less detail on the events themselves, and a little more on the general background, especially on the European geopolitical landscape, which I had some trouble understanding.

Started Oscar Wao on the train this morning, and I love it so far! Just a few pages but it made me laugh already, and it has footnotes with info on the Dominican Republic, which I don't know a thing about.

Yesterday was so muggy and warm, it almost felt like summer is around the corner. Not looking forward to that. Spring (and Fall) in Texas never lasts long enough.

Just over halfway through "Against a dark background" by Iain M Banks. It's been slow going. The pacing feels a bit slow and I find the jumping back-and-forth between past and present a bit confusing. Hopefully it gets better.

I'm also in TX. After the terrible winter we had I am very much looking forward to summer. I'm ready for pool season.
