My advice would be to get her whatever reader best answers her needs NOW. Then you won't have to wait for software updates

However, if your polish, ordering from a polish company is probably a good idea. Helps in case of problem.

Where are the eclicto's spec ? Any bigger photo ? Design sounds nicer than gen3.
Not sure the gen3 case would fit though.

No, there is not wrong. But with couple of changes it could be great - now it's just ok. Dictionary lookup is what sold me to it - but it's clumsy and in need of tweaking. But what's abysmal is communication. Total lack of it. Blog, what blog? It reminds me of days long gonne when you waited for _paper_ magazines to read about latest advances, updates and pateches (at least here)...

The txtr reader will be released at the Frankfurt Book Fair which is in the middle of October. Probably worth waiting until then before deciding on a reader.

the specs and description changed a lot during the last few months. Will be interesting to see what actually gets into the device when it's released, some of the specs are rather vague ("PDF, HTML, Office, ePub and more").

Of all the readers I've seen so far they packed every known wireless gadget into the device plus more (in the specs they mention some mysterious near field communication which apparently doesn't even have a name. Can't be Bluetooth as that one is mentioned separately...)
It'll be quite difficult to get decent battery time with all that, especially wifi and UMTS chips are known to suck small batteries empty in relatively short time.

Next thing I am curious about is the UMTS/GPRS modem. No indication of whether you can actually use it with your own provider or if it's same thing as Kindle and just connects to the txtr portal.

Also, I'm not too sure whether I like the portal idea after all the things I've heard about the Kindle. Might be paranoid but I am somewhat cautious handing over my documents, books, texts, etc to some portal...
