It is.
But you posted that yours is running 5.10.1.2, which is not.
I.E: 5.10.1.2 != 5.10.0.2

My bad, that was a typo. Just confirmed, it's running 5.10.0.2.
So can I go ahead with the jailbreak? Since the serial prefix isn't mentioned.

At least some refurbished Kindles did not get firmware updated during refurbishing, but I don't think there is any way to know whether it will happen.

"factory firmware" and "consumer firmware" are shorthand for "factory use firmware" and "consumer use firmware". "factory use firmware" never leaves the factory except by accident.

The only way to know the firmware version is to open the box, turn on the Kindle and check ithe device info in settings. It all depends on luck. There is no guarantee on getting the version you want.

The first post hasn't been updated in a while. I do believe there's at least one report that your particular variant has been successfully jailbroken and supported in the latest hotfix. PW4 India variant may have been arooni's? Not sure.

Your kindle can be jailbroken now if you have the skill and necessary equipment to open the case and access its seral port. A software jailbreak requires someone to find a vulnerability in the newer firmware that can be exploited to accomplish the same feat you can now via the serial port. There is no way to know when or if anyone will find a way to do this with only software. For obvious reasons it will not be brought up until there is a way to do so.

I can only find failures in the PW4 serial jailbreak and firmware >= 5.6.x serial jailbreak threads.

I stand corrected. I had thought the problems with this had been solved already, but checking the PW4 serial thread shows no further progress at this point. Perhaps someone needs to send theirs to knc1 for him to experiment with?

I had hoped that with your prior experience with the kindle serial port access on earlier models that you might be able to find an way for those who for whatever reason must resort to serial means to jailbreak their PW4 kindles. As was noted above, the thread on this appears to be stalled at this point.

If not you, can you recomend someone else to work further on this? I am not a candidate, as it requires someone who doesn't have five thumbs when it comes to delicate work.

I just got done jailbreaking my PW4 G00102, and stopped after the Install the Hotfix/Bridge step.
Is it advisable to register and update the Kindle to latest version?
Also, where to go from here, with MRPI/ KUAL?
