Enjoying myself. As usual on the first day of my vacation I was awake early. I pottered about until the supermarket opened. The cottage is nice, though at night the thermostat is temperamental. I think it's because of the light sensor; it switches to 15C twenty minutes after it detects it's dark. As with almost all rental cottages (and hotels) I've been in lighting is low and the thermostat is in an even darker corner. Will have to experiment with a flashlight tonight.

The supermarket and other central ammenities are less than 5 minutes by foot, which is nice. There are a lot of birds outside and also a lot of squirels, so I'm going to get some nets of birdfeed tomorrow to put up.

Tomorrow evening my sister will be joining me, until them I'm going to enjoy my alone time. On Thursday we're going to have lunch in the nearby village of Holten and get some things the supermarket on the park doesn't have.

Now I'm trying to decide what a good time is to light the fire and how to actually do that (I've only used parafin blocks until now).

Once upon a time, dry cat food was sufficient to sustain life. Then she needed canned cat food which progressed to expensive canned cat food; now I must warm it in the microwave and carefully mash and mix it. On demand of course.

What am I doing right now? Awaiting orders from the queen of the known universe.

Are you time sharing my cat? If so, she's yowling in the kitchen for another serving of microwave warmed expensive canned cat food (Blue Buffalo duck no less) - which must be cut into bite sized mini chunks. Otherwise she just licks the surface, walks away, and watches you spoon the stuff into the disposal.

Today is the last day of my vacation. Later this afternoon my parents are joining us, we'll have dinner together and tonight they'll take my sister and most of my stuff home. Tomorrow morning I'll check out and go back by train.

Right now I'm enjoying the quiet, my sister isn't up yet and outside it's also quiet. Except for the two squirels, who are playing and raiding the net of bird feed I put up. Last night it snowed off and on, not a lot, but enough to make outside look beautiful. I've already taken pictures before it gets trampled.
