Well, I hope that you're right about AP making their catalog free. Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it. I've been getting communications from them for quite a number of years and I know that they made this announcement at least once before, about five years ago.
well, not so much me as they are claiming so. of course, they don't mention how quickly they are working on the task (and they would reach more by creating ebooks to load into the Kindle store, even selling at a nominal amount to cover costs).

The 73% figure is based upon the digital list price of $14.99.

This study Bible was published last August. It appears to have brand new study helps, not published in previous study Bibles.

The NIV Zondervan Study Bible: Built on the Truth of Scripture and Centered on the Gospel Message. By Zondervan; D.A. Carson; 3 more. Rated 4.4 stars from 101 reviews at the present moment at Amazon. Print list price $49.99; digital list price $14.99; Kindle price now $3.99. Zondervan, publisher. 2912 pages. http://www.amazon.com/NIV-Zondervan-...dp/B00VPSWIGA/.

I checked the price at Christianbook (ePub, DRM Protected). It is $3.99 there also. I didn't check elsewhere.

Book Description
The NIV Zondervan Study Bible, featuring Dr. D. A. Carson as general editor, is built on the truth of Scripture and centered on the gospel message. An ambitious and comprehensive undertaking, Dr. Carson, with committee members Dr. T. Desmond Alexander, Dr. Richard S. Hess, Dr. Douglas J. Moo, and Dr. Andrew David Naselli, along with a team of over 60 contributors from a wide range of evangelical denominations and perspectives, crafted all-new study notes and other study tools to present a biblical theology of God’s special revelation in the Scriptures. To further aid the readers’ understanding of the Bible, also included are full-color maps, charts, photos and diagrams. In addition, a single-column setting of the Bible text provides maximum readability.

Woohoo! I've been waiting for this one to go on sale.

I also checked the Tecarta Android app and the Zondervan Study Bible has been made available there since the last time I checked (maybe a month ago). Tecarta's study Bibles are also on sale for $5.99 to $9.99 (the NIV Study Bible and Zondervan Study Bible are both $9.99 instead of $23.99).

Great! Glad that I was able to help. It's gratifying to hear from people that posts helped them.

Likewise, I appreciate learning that.

I had never owned a smartphone until a few days ago. I was aiming to be the world's last holdout in acquiring one. (ha) I learned that finally everyone else in the world had gotten one (ha), so I bought one. Actually, Koland, who posts in this forum and others on Mobileread, let me know about a really fantastic deal on an LG Optimus Exceed 2 Android phone, and I grabbed it (the deal may still be good if anyone wants to know about it). I love it.

I haven't decided yet how many things like Bible study that I want to do on it. That screen is awfully small and my fingers are awfully big. I am used to using a 17" non-touchscreen laptop and I love having all of that real estate to have open tabs, windows, programs, etc. And typing on it is sure much easier than typing on the smartphone. But now that I've got a smartphone, I'm keeping my ears open now for deals on apps like you mentioned, and just generally about what is available, where I hadn't been interested in them at all before.

Modern-Spelling Edition of the Wycliffe Bible Available for FREE in Pdf!

I'm sure that the name "John Wycliffe" is familiar to many people who follow this thread. Wycliffe lived in the mid-14th century. He is noted for several things. But there is one thing that he did that is germane to this post--he was responsible for the first translation of the complete Bible into vernacular English. What a momentous accomplishment!

Being a product of the 1300's, the language of this Bible is archaic and very difficult to read for even people who read English. However, there is a modern-spelling edition of both the Old Testament and New Testament available. The editor and publisher of the volumes is Terence P. Noble.

Both of those volumes are sold today. For example, Amazon sells the Old Testament in two volumes in paperback for a total of $44.98 and the New Testament in paperback for $19.99 (they also have a Kindle version of this book for $5.99). However, I have learned that ibiblio.org makes available both of these parts digitally in the pdf format, for free.

Here is what Amazon says about these books. First, the Old Testament part:
A modern-spelling edition of the 14th century Middle English translation of the Bible by John Wycliffe and John Purvey, the first complete English vernacular version, with an Introduction, Endnotes, Conclusion, and Bibliography. This is a revision of the modern-spelling edition of the Wycliffe Old Testament, first published in 2001, and revised in 2010. It is the companion volume to Wycliffe's New Testament, the first modern-spelling edition of the Wycliffe New Testament, published in 2001, and revised in 2011.
Similarly, they describe the New Testament part this way:
A modern-spelling edition of the 14th century Middle English translation of the Bible by John Wycliffe and John Purvey, the first complete English vernacular version, with an Introduction, Endnotes, Conclusion, and Bibliography. This is a revision of the first modern-spelling edition of the Wycliffe New Testament, published in 2001. It is the companion volume to Wycliffe's Old Testament, a modern-spelling edition, also published in 2001, and revised in 2010.

Unfortunately, I found very few ratings. But GoodReads members give it a 4.00 average rating from 3 ratings.

Here are the URLs of the webpages at ibiblio.org that are the pdfs:
The Old Testament--http://www.ibiblio.org/tnoble/downlo...e-OT-Noble.pdf
The New Testament--http://www.ibiblio.org/tnoble/downlo...e-NT-Noble.pdf.

I use a laptop for internet browsing and anything involving typing for the reasons you state. I use a 7" tablet for reading at home and a Moto G with the same size screen as your Optimus when I'm out and about.

I find Bible navigation easier with Bible apps than ereader apps. I like Tecarta, but I also got a stack of Bibles for free when Amazon was promoting their coins and the resources are now quite pricey. If you have Libronix/Logos resources, the Logos Bible app is very good. My favorite for free resources is And Bible.

Free Pdf of Book Giving Eyewitness Accounts of the Life of Martin Luther.

I've created a template for the pdf books that I post. I'm using it to post the following ebook. Hopefully the template will let me make posts faster and let me make more of them. I'm sure that the template will need some tweaking. I solicit comments.

Format: Pdf.
Author(s): Vandiver, Elizabeth; 2 others.
Publisher: Manchester University Press.
Pages: vii 412.
Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews (Amazon): 5/1 (4.20/5 at GoodReads).
Price: $0.00.
Lowest Price at Amazon (if available there): $6.00.

Vine's Old and New Testament Words with Topical Index--Now Only $3.99.

That's due to an 83% markdown from the digital list price.

Vine's is a good basic Bible study tool. It's been around for quite a number of years, and been so popular over that time that I doubt that it has ever gone out of print. The only complaint that I have against it is that Vine sometimes will interject his opinion or belief without always clearly stating that he has done that.

Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words: With Topical Index. By W.E. Vine; Merrill F. Unger. Rated 4.4 stars, from 264 reviews, at Amazon at the present moment. Print list price N/A; digital list(?) price $14.99; Kindle price now $3.99. Thomas Nelson, publisher. 1176 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Vines-Complete...dp/B000SEO9RI/.

Book Description
A Nelson exclusive. Study the meaning of biblical words in the original languages-without spending years learning Greek or Hebrew. This classic reference tool has helped thousands dig deeper into the meaning of the biblical text. Explains over 6,000 key biblical words. Includes a brand new comprehensive topical index that enables you to study biblical topics more thoroughly than ever before.

Regularly $3.99; FREE Now--Rose Publishing's 50 Proofs for the New Testament.

Rose Publishing is offering a free download of their booklet 50 Proofs for the New Testament.

It is a pdf of approximately 10 pages in length. While that is not very long, they pack a lot of information in those pages.

I have never seen anything by Rose Publishing that wasn't well done aesthetically. This booklet is no exception. It is extremely colorful, and loaded with graphics and (tiny) photos. It gets your attention and keeps it.

This is the complete booklet which regularly sells for $3.99. I say that because if you get on a mailing list they will send you offers, about once a week I think, for excerpts (although they don't make that clear, in my opinion) from different booklets that they sell.

There's nothing that I see that indicates an ending date for the offer. The only restriction that I see is "limit 1 per customer."

I have the direct download link to the pdf, but I am giving you this webpage for you to request it. Reason being that if you do, you probably will get a popup offering you a free Names of God booklet. That will be an excerpt of the larger booklet by the same name, that they sell.

HarperCollins Christian has a bunch of books on sale until January 4. The ad says "over 100", but I didn't count. The "shop now" buttons expand to list your favorite ebook retailers (unless your favorite is Kobo, where the prices also seem to be valid). Link

The Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary is $2.99 at Christianbook and Amazon. It's $23.99 at Kobo and not available at all at Barnes & Noble.
