I actually measured the inside of my Touch cover (before seeing sharphamster's post) and figured the H2O wouldn't fit. I guess I'll really have to see when the H2O gets here though.
I was also thinking of using the H2O naked and have ordered a Saddleback leather sleeve for it as well. |

I was going to use mine naked initially too. I think using it that way and having a sleeve works out great. However, when I bought my H20, the Kobo sleep cover was sitting there next to the H20 and calling out to me. lol. So I ended up buying it as well. I had heard negative things about the magnet being weak, but it's worked out perfectly for me and I really like it.

I was actually also thinking of ordering the Kobo sleep cover too. I remember my first ebook reader was the Sony PRS-300 and I ordered the reader along with the official Sony case (also boring black

I dispensed with the Oberon straps altogether. While I like the Oberon covers a lot I never cared for the straps. Always found them unsightly. I carefully cut off the straps and affix my e-reader to the Oberon with double sided tape carefully positioning it so that the magnet in the pocket lines up properly. The tape is easily strong enough to hold the e-reader with no fear of falling out yet can easily be removed without marring either the e-reader or the cover if necessary.

I agree with you. I didn't mind them at first, but I now find them rather unsightly and much prefer a clean look with just the reader. Great idea with the double sticky tape. At one point a few years back I pondered removing the straps on mine and applying a velcro holder, but I never ended up getting around to it.

With the HD as well they only ever produced one case and it was black. I can see them going down this road in future, it makes more sense to them as that way they only have one case to produce so no risk of being left with cases no one wants.
Ironically I just bought a Kobo Glo (as I've heard they might discontinue it) and WHSmith has all the cases half price. After tralling the net and five stores the only official case I could find is black. But it's nice and it works really well ![]() |

[Please excuse the grainy phone pic]
I've got 3 out of 4 straps holding my H20 in the Oberon cover. Not a perfect fit, and I don't want to risk tweaking the case and damaging the internals, but will work for protection until I can get it modified. I had my Sony 650 (and T1) in it previously, and that was a tight fit, so probably the leather of the straps has stretched over time. The straps along the spine need to be relocated - my local shoe repair guy will handle that for me - so the H20 sits closer to the bend rather than the outer edge. There's plenty of extra strap on the underside of the inner cover to lengthen them, and maybe another 1/4 inch of length should do the trick. W/O the straps it's a good size, so I'm happy my Ginkgo cover gets more usage. It was one of Oberon's prototypes I got a nice deal on and it still looks like it did the day it arrived. |

Very nice! I have the red ginkgo leaf cover too! It drives me nuts that it's not getting use because I love it so much.

Thanks for the picture, sharphamster! I've already had the straps of my Oberon adjusted once. I hope the leather can take one more adjustment! Or I may use the H2O naked for a while and decide from there. Just nice to know the Oberon is still an option

:] Don't know if I could be happy with a different case after having an Oberon. Spoiled for anything else. And the red leather is such a great compliment to the tooling work - I have the dragon design on my Sony.
I really do like the feel of the naked H20 in my hand, it's very lightweight and comfy. Much better fit for my hand than the HD. I just know how clumsy I can be on occasion, so I pretty much always use the case. Hope it works out and your Oberon gets a new occupant, xtine! |
