There's a video comparing the Voyage with H2O, and the latter has somewhat worse PDF page turn speed.

Cheers.

I'm using koreader at the moment on my H2O. The page turn speed depends on what kind of pdf you are reading, but so far i'm not experiecing page turns that are noticable slow. I've read some scanned books with reflow and ocr turned on and i must say it's been pretty smooth so far.

Totally love that i can read my scanned pdf's now in almost the same way as i would read a regular ePub. Things like increasing font size and touch dictionary are really usefull.

I just got my H2o shipped from Chapters Indigo to Australia and I'm completely smitten. Perfect screen, first go. I cancelled my Voyage preorder after I saw all the problems. If you're worried about quality control with the new Kobo - have no fear! And trust me,I'm probably the least vocal, but most annoying, picky customer...
There is however, 1 tiny black dot on the screen, and the tiniest, most ignorable light leakage from the bottom... The only perfect screen I've ever had was from a very late purchased KPW2, which is still holding strong . WHY is it so difficult to get these screens perfect I don't understand! Regardless I'm still pleasantly surprised with my H2o, the case feels more solid and is all around a better version of the aura Hd, which I've sold (which had a two toned screen and a squeaky case, no less... Didn't seem like the godliest reader like everyone proclaimed, but perhaps I got a dud... Like I said I'm very picky and easily irritated with these ereaders, but I love them so...)
Currently hanging out for a Voyage version 2.0. Till then, I'm smitten with my new kobo 😃😃

I ordered from the Kobo site and very pleased with the H20. The screen and custom font options make it very close to reading a book. I like it more than the Kindle Voyage. I downloaded Calibre and converted a handful of ebooks. It's a easy program to use however had to google to find a step by step directions to do a basic conversion and send to device. There is small blank space at the footer for epubs but not bad. The screen is so much bigger that it's still probably 1/3 more text on the screen than a Voyage. I'm glad to be away from the Amazon environment, and think its superior hardware and software.

One of the first two plug ins that I added for Calibre had some conflicts. One was to remove DMR from books and the other to convert to kepub. Then books that had no DMR restrictions said that the DMR had expired. I had to reset the H20 to factory default and uninstall Calibre with an uninstall program to remove all of the program, and delete all of the original files and re upload them for h20 for one of the books. For now I'm just going to use the basic conversion options with the original Calibre download, as a plug in corrupted it. Seems like Kobo could just come up with a patch for the header and footer spacing? Although its just a small space the screen has lots of space and is amazing.

Just received my Kobo H20 this morning. The screen and lighting are excellent. I have used almost all Kindle models and, like many, have been dissatisfied with the limited font settings. So I decided to try the Kobo H20. My first Kobo e-reader.

I have been purchasing my ebooks from Amazon, downloading them using Kindle for PC and importing them into Calibre using Apprentice Alf. Been doing this for several years in anticipation that one day I may wish to be e-reader agnostic and move to a non Amazon e-reader.

So far I have loaded several epubs onto my H20 from calibre and very much appreciate the ability to set margins and line height to my preference. I also loaded the Charis SIL Modified font which I like very much (thanks JSWolf). I'm looking forward to trying some of the patches available here to make further adjustments (i.e. reducing footer height).

As an aside, I will quickly mention that I am using the same Oberon cover I purchased several years ago for my Kindle Keyboard. It is a tight fit horizontally but it's just narrow enough to work. I also taped a small flat magnet into the front pocket of the Oberon so my H20 now sleeps whenever I close the cover. Unfortunately, it also sleeps when I fold the cover back on itself. Still searching for a way to fix this one annoyance. Very happy with my purchase so far.

Me too! It's good to give a new lease of life to my (ruinously expensive) Oberon cover until the 3rd-party Slimfits turn up. Mine was sized for a Sony 6" device so the width was a bit of an issue until creative use of a rubber band allowed me to secure the 4th corner.

Thanks for this. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself I didn't realise how much I liked the sleepcovers till I didn't have one. Hope you enjoy your new Kobo

I liked almost everything about the h20 but will be returning it because there is no landscape mode. Had I known this I wouldn't have ordered.

Just broke down and ordered one, after being told that the screen issues on the Voyage "are to be expected in certain lighting conditions." I hope I get an H20 with a good screen...

I'll stick with Amazon's ecosystem, which was part of the deal breaker for me on the H20, however after getting calibre to work with my Nook, and getting my kindle books on that device, I figure it should be a piece of cake with the Kobo.

I caved quickly to the hardwarelust and ordered ordered an H20 from the Chapters site last Weds. It was delivered yesterday - 2 days later (!!!) to me in the US. Very impressive, Chapters!

I got a nearly perfect screen and haven't put my H20 down for long. Love the clarity of it - even nicer than the HD. My H20 was 75% charged when I got it, so by the time I registered & loaded my epubs via the desktop app & Calibre (thanks Calibre Team!) it was ready to roll. It's noticeably more comfortable in my hand than my HD, seems lighter weight, and the bezel doesn't print up as quickly. I have it in an Oberon cover made for the Kindle Touch, and once I have the straps relocated (too tight as-is) I think it'll be there to stay.

I'm (finally) coming around to appreciate a frontlight, and I like the warmer color of the H20 much more than the cooler one of HD. The only flaw/distraction is at the bottom of the screen where the light beams come out - a bit uneven, but I'm already getting used to that.

The left side light slide-adjustment is nice - I just have to train my finger not to trigger it when I page back. And I hope I don't snap off that little door that covers the usb/sd slot.

All in all, very pleased with the H20!

Oh wow, what screen. I ordered mine a week ago and been testing since. Wanted to be a smart cookie and ordered another one to compare, turns out the first one is the best. Second is very white, first one nice yellowed old paper like. I'm going to keep the yellow.

I was confused first, some learning curve. Not happy with the bottom space like everybody else. But screen is excellent, sharpness and blackness amazing. I hope it will work well. PW1 will be retired now.

Very pleased with it

I actually really like the white screen. Go figure. Glad you're happy.

And when I saw the white h2o I recalled what you said somewhere about it being paperwhite aura. I got one too we're both happy thanks to inconsistency in screen manufacturing

Could you post a picture of your H2O in the Oberon cover if it's not too much trouble? I also have an Oberon Kindle Touch cover, the straps of which I've adjusted to fit my PW1. I was afraid it was headed for retirement when I ordered the H2O but I'm happy to hear it's getting yet another life I don't have my H2O yet (and probably won't for another 2 weeks). Glad you are happy with yours!

I have old Oberon covers that I used for my kindle touch and also my kindle keyboard. My touch cover doesn't fit the H20, but the kindle keyboard one could fit if I really squeezed it in there. It would still be quite tight though. I know the covers can vary a bit in how much give they have or how tight the straps are.
