AMEN! Roasted Broccoli and some other veggies, if you're in the mood is just DDEEEEEEELICIOUS. It's so easy-peasy. Buy 'em at the store, rinse 'em, cut 'em to a manageable size for florets, sprinkle with oil/vinegar (the latter optional, but I recommend) and some salt...OH BABY!!!! Cauliflower too. Same thing, different day. I eat it all the time. SO damned good. It's a shame that some folks' blunderings in the kitchen make others suffer their entire lives with the results.

Good Lord, more power to you. Nope, I wrap the carcass (I admit, we do carve all the meat, etc. off the bone), in the fridge and then simmer it the following day. I'm too fried Turkey Day night to make a batch of soup!

It is certainly the gold standard of diner cuisine here in NJ.
The hot open turkey sandwich is how we judge any new diner we try. Good diners are getting rarer and rarer here, sadly.


And, yes roasted veggies have pretty much saved me from the veggie phobia forged in the mushy wasteland of my youth.

Once upon a time, long long ago, there was this wonderful diner, at the traffic circle at....gosh....Rte 31 and hell (523?)....I can't think of the other road/street, in Flemington, NJ, the imaginatively-named "Circle Diner." OMG, the open-faced sammiches, especially the turkey with fries and gravy...TDF. MOST DEFINITELY Gold Standard Diner Cuisine!

I've been trying to duplicate that damned plate for (mumble) decades, LOL.

Of course, I also long like a dog for the olden 1970's Texas Weiner (The name of the stores, for those never blessed with a TW Chili Cheese Dog), Chili-Cheese dog. OMG....I will not say how many imitation recipes I've tried to make the "chili/sauce/gravy" to emulate those. Those stores are a thing of the past. GOD YOU GUYS ARE MAKING ME STARVING!

Lunch will be Bratwurst sausages baked with apples and onions with apple cider and spices. A cranberry/brocolli salad for the veggie portion.

I hate to cook and even I don’t mind roasting veg.

I have to admit I love steaming them for a few minutes, in a basket over the boiling water.

If I'm doing a sheet pan bake of course I'll add the veggies to the sheet pan; less washing up!

Oh no. I did that two years ago. Never again.

I got my Covid booster last month and yesterday I got my flu shot. Currently feeling tired and under the weather. So after I pick up my new ID and run a couple of errands I'll be doing not much today.

Yeah, my temperature started spiking within 12 hours (usually it doesn't happen until the next day). Now I feel like I've been hit by a large vehicle or maybe even two.
